I'm certain I posted in WTB that I was looking for a Rebel Hoth hat years ago but I can't find my post so darn it, I'll just post an update here. I finally got one and it is awesome! In fact ...... weirdly .... I got three????

The seller of that hat I got does other outfits as well. If you can find that auction maybe send them a message and see if they'll do a Rogue One version.

By the way, do any RPF folks have a recommendation on how I can attach that 3D-printed radio to the side of the hat? Looks like my options are 1) magnets 2) glue 3) or sew black thread to strap it in place.

1) sounds best, there are very strong magnets out there right? I just want to make sure I get something that won't pop off
2) is the strongest most durable option but might get messy if done wrong and washing the hat won't be much fun
3) a compromise between 1 and 2 really

Any suggestions?

What about some kind of chicago (book binding) screw - one half epoxied into a small hole drilled in the back of the resin greeblie, and the other half (with a washer) inside the hat? Then you'd only have to punch one (or 2) small holes in the side of the hat.

BTW. The original hats used fishing wire. I think there was a loop from the top to the bottom of the ear flap.

I would go with a bolt but use a rectangle of plastic like as a large washer on the inside of the ear-flap - tight to distribute the load away from the bolt hole in the fabric. If the plastic was textured somehow, that would be even better.

I really should make myself a hat one of these days...

So now that I have seen Rogue One and they have darker versions of the Hoth hat like below I am thinking I'll keep my grey one and see if I can complete it. But how should I attach my baseball cap rims to the front? Any suggestions?
