Finally going to see John Williams...Not so fast. Update 11/8

I can now cross one more thing off my bucket list. Just got tickets to see John Williams in Pittsburgh in November. To say that I am excited is an understatement.

Just got a call from the venue saying Mr. Williams has injured his back and is unable to travel. They're going to try to reschedule the concert for a later date.

Enjoy. There's nothing like seeing the Master composer conducting his own works. I've seen him several times at Tanglewood.

That is very cool. I can almost promise you you will have a great time. I had the honor of doning my Vader suit and helping to present John with a birthday cake during a concert where he was leading the Boston Pops and playing all his movie themes. We got to meet him afterwards and he was very down to earth.

I've seen the Maestro twice. Once at the Hollywood Bowl, and once at a very intimate concert here in Rochester where he received his honorary doctorate. He is truly wonderful as a conductor. Enjoy it, John. And remember, you will be in the presence of a living legend and a true Genius.

He also directs, at least once a year, the Boston Pops at Tanglewood. I've been twice. You're going to have a great time.

I have been to a concert with just his music, conducted by someone else.
Just hearing John Williams film music performed live was a great experience.

The Star Wars in Concert was awesome, but hearing the Raiders March, conducted by THE MAN, might make my head explode with glee.

I saw him at the Hollywood Bowl compliments of a very gracious member of the RPF. It was fantastic.

I've seen him twice. The first time he ended his concert with the main titles for Superman. It was AMAZING. My all-time favorite musical score conducted by the man himself.

The second time, he ended with the Throne Room/End Titles from Star Wars, my favorite theme from the entire SW saga.

Both times have been phenomenal experiences. You're in for a real treat.

Did you swing for the gold circle tickets where you go to a post-show reception with him? That would be amazing.

Wow, that sounds awesome! I gotta say I'm jealous!

I remember when I saw Howard Shore in concert for his Lord of the Rings tour. It truly was a wonder for the senses...to the point that the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end! And I'm sure John Williams will be nothing short of that experience!

Are you looking forward to any particular pieces?

Raiders March and Superman are musts.

I went to the Star Wars in Concert so I'm good on those tunes. Gotta have Raiders and Supes though.

Hector, I didn't swing for the reception tickets because I'll have a three hour drive home and will need to get out of there quickly.

He's not going to be able to perform due to a back injury. The concert is cancelled with a "chance" of a reschedule.
