Today I finally managed to finish my PVC/resin DH-17 ANH-style.
First the pics, then the specs...
Ok, now for the specs:
The barrel is a regular PVC pipe of appropriate size. Except for the grip, the endcap and the rear sight, everything is scratch-built. (Bondo, Epoxy and sheet metal, wood dowels). The muzzle is a cap from a car-shampoo bottle (and I know the ribbing isn't 100% accurate, but I had it lying around and found it fitting.)
The barrel-ribs are made of wood, as is the firing-mode selector. The scope is also scratch-built, but the scope brackets are store-bought from a hunting shop, so they're pretty much the real deal. The scope-rail is a squared U-shaped metal rail, with a wider metal stripe on top of it. The little greeblies at the end of the scope rail are wooden dowels split in half.
I'm especially proud of the front part of the scope-rail as well as the "magwell" part. Took me some time to do the bondo-work, but I think it came out smooth...
The only gripe is that I had some trouble mounting the trigger-guard, and I even accidentally broke of the grip, so it had to be glued on again, which left a visible line
Still, I had no bondo left, and I really wanted to get this blaster done, so now it is. I might fix the seamline at a later date. But right now, I feel like the gun needs some sort of display stand first.
Comments / Critique welcome...
