Female Snape Coat

While I know this isn't an actual replica seeing as the coat is for a man....but I still wanted to share my latest project of making the Snape coat from Harry Potter for a girl. I found a great thick wool to make it out of and then lined it in green cotton. Then I covered all the buttons so they looked the same.....there's little things that I'd like to have different but overall I'm pretty pleased with it and will totally wear this coat just because. Does that make me odd? Probably but I don't mind. :lol

I didn't have time to do a really nice photo shoot with our studio setup and wig etc. I was just really excited about the coat and wanted to share.

Also I wish I could add images in full size and not just as attachments. I've looked up in the faq section on how to do this but it just mentions clicking the arrow next to my attached images.....but I don't have any. Does anyone else know how to show an image in a post without it being a small thumbnail?

Impressive! You threw that together with no patterns?

No lol! I'm not the best pattern drafter in the world so I use existing patterns and then combine them together and modify. The coat base was a butterick pattern and the sleeves were a 2 piece victorian blouse pattern. Then I modified the hem of the coat and the sleeve area with the buttons and the collar area. I made the flaps myself but that's easy haha!

Great job on that! Love that coat!

I use imageshack or photobucket to host pix. After you browse/select, you have the option to resize you pic, then cut & paste the forum code that it gives you.

Hmmm....I tried using my photoshop before and using insert image but that didn't work. I probably just need to play around with it.

I love it and I want one!!!

You can wear that "just because" any time you want! It came out fantastic!

Thanks so much! I don't know why I have a fascination with turning male costume female......but I usually love the outcome. I feel this should be the "new" black jacket in everyones closet hehehe!

Upload, move the mouse over the picture, go down to link options, chose thumbnail or full size picture, click (it auto-copies the link) and just paste it into your post.

Hope that helps.

Really looks like a jacket that can be used at any time and not something specific only to Potter.

and whenever I use the add image with the website from photobucket or any other image site it just gives me a broken image symbol and when I preview it there's nothing there like in this reply....I dont know....lol I guess it's just beyond me.

That's because you are using the HTML code link. You should use the IMG code or IMG thumb link.

Sorry, just used the first picture in my folder for the example.

I've got the same conversion complex. I've got female versions of a lot of characters, including (but not limited to) Boba Fett, The Joker, Draco Malfoy, The Doctor (10 and 11), Shaun of the Dead, and Ezio Auditore (in progress) ... I too love the outcome of all of the outfits.

Yes!! Finally!! You are my best friend for the day!! Thank you lol..... Ugh I feel ridiculous now lol. I'm on the computer all the time and you'd think I'd know something as simple as that.....but alas......<hangs head in shame>

I love it. My friend also loves male to female costumes hence her Bday present she is wearing on halloween in the pic above lol.....Its the Bandit from the movie The Fall.

Ya...All of my stuff is usually modeled by me....It's just easier then trying to find someone to do it and it means I get to make myself costumes to wear elsewhere lol.
