Female Green Goblin!!!!!

This post is about the creation of my Female Green Goblin suit that I co-created and wore for the Comic-Con Marvel Costume Contest at SDCC 2013. I won with my bf and creative partner, Niko, The Hobgoblin. He already posted in great detail our creation of his Hobgoblin Suit, so here is the second half of our duo...The Green Goblin... hope you like it :love

We began with a sketch

So the main ideas we were going for were, a battle-damaged warrior, sexy, goblin... which i know sounds just ridiculous, :facepalm so the challenges began from the get go. Originally, we were going to have a scale-maille bra piece, shoulder pieces, neck pieces, and thigh pieces. I planned to fabricate and sew the headpiece, gloves, bra and shoulder pieces, and goblin spats for the boots. Most of that actualized, and some aspects were changed... as it goes in the studio.

So I began with the headpiece:

I weaved a wire basket-like under structure with slip-knotted connections that would be able to contract into a nice shape yet continually hold its intended form. I built it so that i could fit all of my dreadlocks into the center, and squeeze the form around my head to get it as close as possible to my skull. I needed it to constrict for extra hold, yet maintain that cap sort of look and spiraled shape. Then i sewed on batting and secured it to the wire structure. This would later sever as a ground for me to sew on the purple suede.

Next post, the gloves and skirt...

Howdy.
So the next pieces I constructed were the gloves and the skirt. I wanted the gloves to go up the forearm, and end in large cuffs. I wanted to try to keep many elements of the traditional Green Goblin, yet give the details are own interpretation. Usually when my partner (Friko, on this forum) and I recreate characters, we like to emphasize the animalistic/creature aspect of the character.
