Fantastic Four First Steps Marvel Studios MCU

The good reviews are salt in the wound. I'm too pissed to ever see it and couldn't tolerate another in Norrin Radd's rightful place, I can't shake that off. Why did they have to screw up MY favorite? They could have screwed up so many others I don't care about instead! LOL

...I'd say go see it. Not sure WHY they switched, other than we had the Silver Surfer (Norrin Radd) in 2007. Although they disregarded the history of Shalla-Bal and Norrin Radd in the new film (in comics continuity, they were lovers) , she does make an "acceptable" replacement Silver Surfer with essentially the same storyline and motivation(s) to serve Galactus.

That's a shame. I feel we rarely get director's cuts anymore, kinda blaming Disney for this :v.

Haha, it's funny how people were going "awww" during the birth scene and my hubby and I went like "eww". I think we were expecting gross things flying by
Yeah, miss those old classic Directors Cuts.
Like Blade Runner, where it ended up not even truly being his cut, so he then made his own Final cut, plus the studio cut, and whatever else cut.
There's like 7 versions of the film now...

Just doesn't work for me, decades of loving the character, a ton of what makes Silver Surfer who he is is unique to Norrin Radd, including that board. Shalla Bal would have been an entirely different herald had she been the one to sacrifice for Zen La. They could have totally done Frankie Raye (Nova). I could have rolled with that possibly. I'm starting to think the character simply isn't pop culture silver screen material, too tortured a thinker and philosophical character, too messiah-like. I get MCU is watered down because it has to be. Thanos is a fraction of what he has been under such writers as Starlin. Much more complex. Maybe it's better this way for me. Just leave him alone.

I enjoyed the movie but def feels like the pacing was odd? Did they cut a lot of the movie? It feels like some story threading is missing.
I did prefer it over Superman, I grew a bit tiresome of James Gunn's style, but Marvel really has been having difficulties to tell stories without rushing them, as their purpose has been to tie one movie to another as of late.

Like everyone else says, the baby cgi was very distracting at times lol. But the overall design is pretty cool, really did feel like the Incredibles in some ways haha.

One thing I'd like to see from Marvel is the Thanos/Galactus/Hunger story. That I would SO watch haha.
Glad to see you’re back here !

This is a minor spoiler so I won’t use a spoiler tag.
I loved this movie…except for one part.
In what world do we let pregnant women of nine months go rocketing off into space and not one person has a problem with this??? Heck, in Apollo 13, we grounded Gary Sienese because he MAY get the measles while in space!

Somehow, like Palpatine's return, she somehow was able to somehow bypass the idea of a pregnant somehow woman not being able to somehow go to space....somehow.

FYI, an interview with director Matt Shakman courtesy of The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of, mainly focusing on Fantastic 4 and especially the design of the sets / props / costumes, along with a few easter eggs sprinkled in. MCU discussion starts around minute 34.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. But I think of it this way: you said "in what world..." Well, these people DO live on another world, in another universe. Their earth isn't ours and though it has futuristic technology our world doesn't have, it's also behind our time in other ways. So even though I thought the same thing, I let it slide.
