Fallout 3 -Reilly's Rangers Armour build - FINISHED.

Related to my other thread on the Plasma Rifle build, which is almost complete, I am building Reilly's Rangers Combat armour for my trip to Scotland's Comicon in Glasgow next month.

I've never worked with EVA foam before so I'm cheating a bit by using the foam to dress items I've bought to make the armour - observe:

Yep American football shoulder pads! Massive cheat I know but my tailoring skills are very limited. Although I am constantly amazed just how coincidental the connection to real life items both my Fallout 3 builds have been...

I've got MotoX/MTB leg guards that bear an uncanny comparison the combat armour leg sections, although I will dress them slightly in thin EVA. The various hip pads etc I will construct from EVA.

Belts and pouches will also be genuine Military spec for authenticity.

Here's the crowning glory, which is the genuine article!

Shame to paint really!

P.S. I'm gobsmacked just how good hot glue is!

Awesome choice of costume! Are you gonna add the shamrock?

Yep I've got a jpg from the net and am going to turn it into a stencil for spraying tomorrow.

The Shoulder armour is fully constructed now.

Back view:

It has to be said the flash makes the piece look a bit flat and featureless, actually it isn't. Hopefully the next pics in natural light with paint will show otherwise.

Re: Fallout 3 -Reilly's Rangers Armour build.

All the pieces made and ready for painting:

Then I'll have to think of a way to attach them to the rest of the kit.

Re: Fallout 3 -Reilly's Rangers Armour build.

Here's the finished shoulder armour:

As the glue seems to be holding I think I'll remove the tie-wraps from the lower section of the chest plate.

Note: The back-piece had to be longer than prototype as the football pads had a bigger back piece that couldn't really be modded... or could it???

There's some mild weathering and damage. I'll sleep on this and see about more later - I don't want to go OTT.

Rest of the kit is painted, time to finish AR321's Plasma rifle!
