I was looking around for a new EVA project - only my second - and the perfect opportunity struck. My best friend is a huge Fallout fan, and the release of Fallout 4 has renewed his vigor. For his upcoming birthday, I decided to build him a prop from the game.
I had a hard time finding reference pictures online for anything other than one angle, as seen here:

I suppose I could get more shots from the in-game inventory, but I don't have the game yet, so I was stuck with what I could find. I did find many shots of 3D-printed props others had made, which ended up helping quite a bit. Still, I'm afraid the other side of the gun may not be as accurate.
I started with vault colors of the foam, not that they could be seen when it was finished, but because it just seemed right.

The only non-foam part on the gun is a computer thumb-screw, which was the perfect size and shape for the screw on the grip.

Some PlastiDip to seal and protect the foam before painting.

Thinking it would help with the weathering I'd be doing later, I decided to put a layer of metallic silver over the sealant. This ended up being a mistake, as it never ended up showing through under the rest of the paint the right way. Wish I'd left it black, but oh well. Live and learn.
The rest of the paints were acrylic. Green, black, and burnt sienna for the main body, and yellow, orange, green, and a bit of crimson for the grip. Then, weathering with more black, burnt sienna, and silver for the worn edges of the "metal".

Overall, I'm pleased with the end result. Quick coat of matte clear enamel to protect the paint, and it's ready to give.
