ESB being screened in Chicago this weekend

Apparently the original cut. Looks like Friday is the only day available, only $30 too.
Too bad I've got tix for IM2 for then.

Wow! I'd give my left hoo-hah to see the original on the big screen! Too bad it'd take me like 20 hours to get to Chicago... :(

Hey, guys! I was lucky enough to be a part of this evening on Saturday night.

To answer the questions here - no, they did not show the 1980 theatrical release of Empire. It was the 2004 version used for the DVDs, but it WAS a high-definition screening and it looked JAW-DROPPING.

The event will most likely go down as the pinnacle of Star Wars fandom for me. Here are a couple of shots:

Two giants in one year. Bravo, Hector! Did you have the pay the couple hundred dollar admission? If I had it I would have dropped it as well since it all went to charity.

Awesome pics man. I can't believe they chose that theater to screen it. It's not very large.
Even if it was to benefit the museum, they should've held it elsewhere & given them the proceeds.
Still very cool.

I saw that they are doing a showing at the Arclight in LA, for the 19th. Ford is doing a q&a at that showing.

Great pictures! Now I regret not going....and I live only 30 minutes away.

Same here! :unsure

What would you call the facial expression on old Georgy Boy's face, completely board out of his mind? Trying to calculate how much will be going in his pocket for this event? OR What? :lol

P.S. I think he needs a neck tuck!

:cheers

Thanks, guys!

It was a fun, amazing evening and a high from which I have not yet come down.

George seemed very relaxed and worked the entire reception like a pro. I came away with 4 autographs for myself and 3 for some Rebelscum friends who asked me to try to get their items signed. He was so accessible and accommodating.

Jason - yes, I paid for the reception tickets for both my wife and myself. Not cheap, but in retrospect, a bargain for what turned out to be an unforgettable evening.

As for whether he seemed bored, he seemed very engaged to me and was talking to some smaller kids very warmly. It was fun to watch. He cracked a few jokes at the expense of the Directors Guild of America when asked why he did not use Irvin Kershner for ROTJ. It was great.

As for his face in the above pics, well, George has never been Mr. Million Dollar Smile now has he?

:)

Here are some pics of my autograph haul:

These are all 8x10s:

Never thought I'd get this one signed - it was my wife's idea, but GL actually reacted to it, saying "hey look at that", my boys on Halloween:

And, finally, the piece I really, really wanted. The 11x14 that will go with my 11x14 Ford and Fisher autos. Leaves only one left to go.

I love how this one turned out - he signed where I was hoping and covered a nice bit of real estate, too!

I was mega honored to be Boba Fett for this event on Saturday evening. They requested from the 501st:

A Vader, a Boba, 4 Stormtroopers and anyone we knew who had an R2-D2 with all the bells and whistles on it. Weeks ago anyone who wanted to participate had to submit pictures of their costume and a couple weeks ago LFL came back and asked for heights and weights of each person who submitted photos, and then based on all this, LFL themselves picked which costumers they wanted to fill those 6 costumer spots they requested.

LFL also brought along their own Chewbacca and Ewok costumers, with of course amazing costumes.....probably made by ILM. :)

None of us costumers got anything autographed like AT-AT Luvah, but just being around George Lucas for a couple minutes and him talking directly to me was enough memories for a long time. You may also note my new signature line on the board below. ;)

That was you, Mr. Fett?

Here is a shot of me and Mr. Lucas under the marquee with you patrolling in the background.

You looked great!

Hector
