electro marking aluminium

So...i have aquired quite some knowledge about electro etching and plating and have the means to do it myself. There is a lot of info on how to do it yourself on the internet, including what you need to make the electrolyte solutions.

When it comes to electromarking however, the ingredients for the to be used electrolytes must be a big secret as i can't find any.

I am looking to make electrolyte to do black permanent marking on aluminium. I know you can buy bottles of the stuff, but getting liquids shipped to the netherlands will be a drag and for some reason i feel that pricewise the ready stuff is majorly overpriced

Anybody have more info about this.

thanks,

marc

It sounds like what you're talking about may be called 'electrolytic coloring' in English. Not something I'd ever heard of, until just now.
