EL Paper Tint

I was wondering if anyone has attempted to tint EL paper. I was considering using automotive tinting like that which is used to darken tail lights. you know the spray on stuff. I was wondering if anyone has attempted something similar. if not, does anyone have a small piece of scrap EL paper they might be willing to part with?

You could use tinted plastic to cover the EL panel if you're worried about the paint dissolving the protective layer on the panel. Most of the EL wire and tape I've used is covered in weatherproof plastic that would be able to handle paint/tint. I'd suggest a thin clear acrylic coat on the panel before applying the automotive tint if that's the route you want to take. Let me know how it turns out. I love EL.

actually im more worried about visibility. i'd want the EL to be not visible when off and clearly visible when on. especially when the surounding area is black.
