got one of those crappy conan helmets off ebay
HORRID!!!!!!
but salvagable.....
it comes with muppet hide in lieu of fur and beer can grade tin scales on the neck guard.
but as luck would have it i stumbled into a nearly free fur coat and was able to upgrade.
here are the pics
also put some brass shark mail over the scales

If you want to change the scales to something better, and keep the scale look for accuracy, check out theringlord.com for scales in a variety of materials. I deal with them all the time for my chain mail supplies, and they run a good shop- customer service, product, and pricing are all excellent. The brass shark mail is nice, but looks out of place somehow as a drape on that helmet, IMO. Seems just too light a material to "work" with the heavy design of the rest of it.

Nice find tho- what did that run you for the helmet only?

helmet and atlantean sword combo for 175.00 iirc.
helmet looked a lot better in the ad.
