Dye-sublimation printing in the uk - news!!!

OK, so since I've had a lot of people concerned about finding a dye-sub printers within the UK I have decided to create this thread to share the company I use.
It took me a total of 6 weeks to actually find one, as most of you know, it's very difficult to find one here in the UK, and after some test prints, I've been happy with their work
to date. Finding one in the UK has been a hell of a lot of work, on my part, so remember who gave you this information :lol

So here they are:
http://www.citrus-rain.com/

They are a Manchester based firm and the prints I get are around the £100 mark, but all depends on how many square meters they use of material. They print through dye-sublimation onto a white 4-way stretch Lycra material and have a range of other materials depending on your needs.

I hope that this will alleviate people's stress in finding a suitable printers here within the UK!
Good luck with your builds and remember to post pics and threads of your work, as you can see from this thread, it's always good to share!

Thanks, Carl. :wacko

That's real stand up of you to share it with people dude, I know alot of people wouldnt do that! As always u are the man!

I found a one company here in Canada that will do it for me, but I'm having a problem sending him the file (it's 552MB tif file). How do you guys send files that are this big to companies? I've tried dropbox and a few other methods but none seem to work

I have tried using their own upload page for the file, but it just takes forever to finish uploading. So I worked with my printers and started using upload sites which are a lot faster and simply email them the uploaded file and they download it on their end, takes a couple of minutes. Then they can get me a price for the full size print from the file. I'm using filecloud for uploads, once it's been uploaded you have a "link" for others to download it.

But failing that, why not just stick the file onto a DVD disc and post it to them, or drop it off if they are nearby!

You mentioned the price being around the £100 mark, is this for a full costume pattern?

This is the whole point in sharing on this forum, yes we get some idiots who just copy others work and pass them off as their own, but most of us are genuine people who love to create something from nothing, and in sharing these small things and showing thread pages, allows others learn and create their own designs.

dude you are a total star iv been pulling my hair out for months searching and phoneing companys i nearly booked myself in to the funny farm cheers dude ill by you a beer if i ever see you at eny of the sci fi or comic cons lol :behave

carl9149 you have my deepest thanks. With your find you have enabled me, a guy living on a small european island with no such technology, to get started on my very first spiderman costume project as done by Lunaman.

May I ask anyone who used their services regarding their printed colour, its fidelity, saturation and quality?

I am posting this as a small review of the company for those that might be questioning their service etc =).

I have just received the printout of an ultimate spiderman costume of course printed on 4 way stretchable lycra which they provide. The finished print is simply amazing. The colours are rich and vibrant and stayed true to the file I sent them. The detail is also crisp with no loss of quality when compared to the file. Once stretched there is no flaking of the colour what so ever. I am very happy with the service they provided as well, their customer care is very helpful. I spent two whole weeks sending them email after email after email and they always replied within a few hours or the next working day. Pics will soon follow but at the moment I cannot take the pics as there is too much light coming in my house and the pictures do not make justice to the print.

Happy costume making,
Ciskje

is this still the way to go guys? got my file and am looking to print soon, im form the UK and since this is 4 way stretch and dye sublimation i can't think of any alternatives??

FOD does pretty good, that's international, but I got my ASM print from citrus rain, and they did a gorgeous job on it, and the lycra is pretty thick aswell, so totally recommend them if you are in UK
