This was my first draft for the gown. It was rush actually because I just suddenly had the urge to join a contest I saw in line with the movie.
I sew the gown in like 9am to 6am in a day! HAHAHA! It got through the preliminary deadline. Thank God!

The Maleficent Project. Re-posting this from our FB page - I have never been so O.C with a costume before: (1) because we usually plan ahead (2) because we normally have enough time to finish a project. But not this one. Honestly, I wasn't planning to make this because it was already assigned to someone else in our disney villain group. My plan was to just borrow it from whoever makes it when we watch the movie because Robert & I normally watch in full gear. But when Robinson's Movieworld concocted a contest, the competitive blood in me compelled me to join. Unfortunately, i did not meet the qualifications. But because I wanted a shot, I asked a friend if he'll be willing to collaborate with me in joining the contest. It'll be a group effort - win or lose, we'll all do our best. Donrobert made the horns in rubber & I made the gown. Due to time constraints, I made the simplest form based on the cartoons. Cramming at its best so to speak. I took a 2-day leave from work -1st day we went to divi to buy the fabrics, & 2nd day we locked ourselves to do it non-stop - 9am to 6am. Hahaha. By 10am it was delivered & they had a photoshoot. A photographer friend of mine took in the project for the photoshoot because we needed to submit printed copies to register. We were able to submit as scheduled. After that, we waited for the confirmation if he's in for the top 20 and he was. I promised myself to fix the errors in the suit in time for the judging day. Luckily, I stumbled upon a fellow costume-maker who deconstructed the whole costume from the trailers. Special thanks to Michaela de Bruce for the awesome references & for being a guide & inspiration. But because I couldn't find the same fabrics i used before, I had to buy a whole new set. So I have tons of black fabric at home right now & I have no idea where to use them - yet. Lol. I sew the whole gown in just 4 'effin hours on the day of judging. @_@ I had it sent to the venue just in time & I'm quite happy how it turned out. We didn't win but I'm still happy to have been able to participate in it. I am proud of my friend for pulling it off. Below were the photos of the costumes as worn - 1st photo was the one we submitted for the requirement; 2nd photo was during his catwalk on judging day. Too bad I was not there 'coz I was in another event for a competition. I still refurbished the costume after the contest to clean the stitches and correct what is needed to correct. haha. I have never overhauled a costume as many times as I did with this but I'm still proud of myself with the outcome. hehe.
