Does anybody else miss Lost?

First off: I was only about 75% happy with the finale. I don't want to get into all of the "they shoulda done this" or "I hated it after the first season." I know people abandoned it for their own perfectly good reasons.

But after all of that, I really liked the characters, the setting, and the weekly intrigue. I also loved the specualtion on here and with "real life friends". ;) I haven't been able to find that in any of the other "mystery" shows.

I wonder if it's because I knew that Lost would have an ending. That it was a finite product that (supposedly) had a plan (even if it ultimately didn't). I think knowing that it would end allowed me to commit to it. I've seen numerous episodic dramas that were good and then just tanked and trailed off into nothing.

My thought is: should shows be created in this way? Commit to almost a mini-series type of thing that maybe lasts 5 years, but at the end you know it's going to end... almost like a book.

Thoughts on this or just missing Lost in general?

YES AND YES!!!! I miss LOST. And you're right about new shows with five year plans with definite endings. Great idea. I hope it happens.

I would love that Wacky. I think five years is the limit for most shows. I like the idea of a single story spread out over a few seasons. I'm glad the Shield didn't go on and on. Same thing with Lost. Get in, tell the story, get out. No cousin Olivers, no Olivas, no moving to a new town, no following the kids to college after they've been in high school for seven years, etc.

PS I do miss Lost.

Definitely miss the show! Every now and then part of the score will pop up on Pandora and makes me want to sit down and watch the whole series again.

Shows like that only come along once in a while.

Yes. And I have a feeling that given Chuck's current ratings I'll be missing it next year too.

Miss it lots, dont watch much tv these days. I miss Heroes too, i hope Chuck doesn't meet the last season anytime soon

I miss Sawyer :love, the only good thing in the whole show IMO!?!

I loved the first season and really thought it was going to be a great run, but they lost me in the second season mainly by playing games with broadcast schedules.

But also, second season onward it was always just questions, questions, questions and never any answers. Intrigue is a good thing, but when it's just that and nothing more, I get bored. And I hated it when they killed off Charlie.

Caught a few episodes of season 4, liked the Dan Faraday character and some of the story lines, but once again they bored me out of my mind with the endless string of loose ends. And the ending just sucked.

It could have been something very fabulous had they not lost the creativity of the first season. IMO

But yeah, I'd like the idea of shows having a set number of seasons with a definite ending schedule, would help in deciding whether or not to commit.....

Nope......do i miss the constant reruns, one week is a new episode and the following is a rerun episode to prolong the season, or the long hiatus to come back and not leave off where it ended before the hiatus started. Nope, dont miss it at all.

I do miss desmond

I miss it before it jumped the rails, when Damon Lidelof was still insisting there was a scientific explanation for everything that happened on the show.

No, I don't. LOST had become hopeless lost within its own muddled storline by the end and at least for me was no longer watchable because they were desperately trying to tie together so many elements that were simply impossible to tie together. Like so many shows before it who lived past their time, it was a train wreck by the end and I was glad to see it go.

I miss Lost. The day after a new episode aired, the Lost fans at work would make it a point to eat lunch together and hash out what happened and theorize where the show was going. Those usually turned into long lunches. Every other day of the week, we worked remotely and interacted via IM or emails.

They lost me at Season 3. I still have the DVD box set for Season 1, look forward to watching it again sometime when I have more free time. :) So no, I don't really miss LOST.

I don't miss it like I don't miss Star Wars or Lord of the Rings...

I've been so involved in making props, costumes, writing fan fiction for Fanfiction.net , making music videos for youtube and talking about it on Lostpedia that it is still with me in too many ways for me to miss it. :)

If I didn't still have a community to talk to about it and share these things with I would miss it.

One of my best friend's is also watching it for the first time, so I've been talking to her about it off and on and when she gets to "The Incident" I'll be watching that with her and hopefully a few others in Season 6 too.

I loved the end... it's all about the mythology for me. :D

Rollor boi - I actually got mad at season 3 because there were too many mysteries. I only kept watching because my husband wanted to see what was going to happen. I'm SOO glad I did. I got hooked again at the finale of Season 5 and now that I've rewatched it I like it so much better the second time through.

There are a lot of parallels and themes I didn't catch before... Like the comparison in function and imagery of the Hatch Failsafe key to the cork and source light at the end...

I loved LOST, but HATED the ending. It could have been so much more. I don't think they needed any more seasons of the show, but I think it ended poorly. I can't say I miss it. Although I don't think there is a show I so eagerly look foreward to as much as I did LOST.
