Doctor Who: Time Rotor Light Source help

Hey everyone, well as you know I am working on a Pertwee/Baker inspired console. No updates to post, I have been working on it but they are mainly structural panel improvements and some hard board cladding, I should have a bigger update this weekend, but I digress this is not what this thread is about. I am posting for some lighting help.
I built my time rotor first with the best information I had at the time and was quiet proud of it, still am, but like many things I am always looking to improve accurize and upgrade it. Well I have found an upgrade and they are the lights.
Initially I had thought the lights were standard fluorescent bulbs not knowing what was available in the UK, After speaking with a good friend and member of the TARDIS Rebuilders guild and looking online as well as researching on DVD's I am pretty confident now that my friend is correct in using Incandescent strip light tubes, double ended to be precise for a time rotor that he built. The issue I am having is they don't appear to be available here in the US, nor can I seem to find the center connector or the top and bottom pieces that attach to power them or connect them in series. I am hoping that some of the UK/NZ/AU members can help out, or anyone really. Here is the link for the double ended tube lights for everyone's benefit

Also here is a link to my friends console and pertwee Time rotor. It is pretty close to the original and you can see what I mean about the lights and how they are connected. I would ask him but he has not been responding to emails lately :(

If anyone can help me source these items or offer some advice please let me know, If I can't get them state side perhaps someone can help with an overseas purchase and have some shipped to me? I appreciate any and all help. Thanks guys.

If you can locate a supplier and they have them in stock I will do what I can to get them shipped to you once they reach me :lol am I correct in thinking you need 4 bulbs for the Pertwee style Time Rotor, I watched Inferno the other day and that is a great reference source as the Doctor has removed the console from the TARDIS and is working on it in his laboratory

EDIT : Just seen your video so you would need 6 bulbs altogether, also can you specify wattage and size required, thanks

I think Inferno is the last time you see the original Hartnell rotor. You are correct though, I would needs six total, though I would probably want a few extra in case of burn out. Do you know the source for the connector in the center and the end caps? I appreciate your offer it would be a big help in getting the parts needed. The wattage is 60W and the size is approximately 8 inches..the measurements are in MM so when converted its just about 8.7 inches.

Just sent an email enquiring about the connector, funnily enough I googled 'flourescent strip lights' and the first company that came up was the one I got that information from, what I didnt realise is they are about a 5 minute drive from my house!!! Spooky!! :lol I'll keep you updated but if in the meantime you find what your looking for, drop me a PM :thumbsup

Bump

Still looking to source the connectors and power connectors. CommanderC have you heard anything from comptons yet? Also if anyone can help out please post away. Much appreciated.

Karsten.

If you do use the incandescents, get plenty of spares. They have a fairly short working life due to the very long single filament which is quite fragile, especially while they are switched on. They also get very hot.

I think you'll want the frosted or 'pearl' variety, as the filament is clearly visible in the clear ones.

On a safety note, the metal end caps on the bulb are often live due to the simple spring mechanism of the holder - something to be aware of as you grasp both ends to pull the bulb out of the holder (disconnect first!).

Still waiting on a reply from these guys, I'm guessing they were closed over the weekend, will keep you posted:thumbsup
