Doctor Who props and costumes exhibition pics

The Doctor Who props and costumes exhibition hit Newcastle's 'Center For Life' this week, so I went down to check it out (with my kids in tow) and took lots of photos.

It was a good exhibition - lots of memorable screen used stuff, nicely displayed with accompanying video footage from each particular episode.

Anyway, enough banter and onto the good stuff, here come the photos - enjoy!

My favourite piece was the 'telescope' from the Werewolf episode because the lense had a picture of the wererabbit from Wallace and Gromit in there...lol. Nice touch.

I do have another batch, but it's really late here..I'll try and upload them tomorrow.

The breakdown of how they did the Ood masks is fascinating. I wish there were enough interest in North America to warrant such awesome exhibitions.

Thanks for sharing!

Agreed. To be fair though, I do think Doctor Who is getting bigger here the more it is shown on TV. This season has had tons of channel wide commercials and promotion. They even came out here for screenings this year. Plus I know they've done a couple of SDCC related things the last few years. Hopefully we'll get a cool exhibition just like this one around here fairly soon. Even if it's just a tour that only stays in a place for a week at a time, it'd be very cool to go see.

I agree, it would be good if you guys get a similar exhibition in the States. It is very cool to see this stuff up close.

Here's the last batch:

That's an excellent collection of pictures, thanks.

I have a favor to ask of anybody who plans on attending this exhibition anytime soon. I'm working on a run of the tie worn by Tennant and by Smith in the Eleventh Hour, and good reference images are hard to come by. My current problem is the patches of red in the pattern. They appear to change from red to brown depending on lighting conditions, or angle of viewing, or something. Can anybody take a close look at the tie and maybe get some up close shots of one of the red patches with and without flash, etc? Any photos or even observations would be helpful.

This tie?

That's the one. Having seen it in person, can you tell me anything about it? Did the patches look red or brown in person, did they change color as you walked around/past it, were they a different weave or texture than the brown parts, etc?

Bumping this thread because Tony and I REALLY want to get these ties made. Can anybody answer my questions about the red patches?
