Doctor Who Prop - Can anyone ID this kit part? (motorcycle)

This is the bolt gun used in the Doctor Who episode The Satan Piit. I've id'ed the main gun as a Predator Light Gun, but am trying to ID the part circled in red.

It looks to me very much like a motorcycle footrest hangar (very similar to the Kawasaki struts used in the Aliens Smartgun)

Can anyone point me in the direction of the right kit? If it's what I'm thinking, it would probably be 1/8th scale or larger.

Cool! I capped the episodes a while back, and all I could guess the part as was some kind of toy crane part or something similar.

Here's a shot of the bottom of the gun, shows how narrow those parts actually are - and how they get narrower, like a blade:

Maybe a custom motorcycle mirror bracket? It does get waved about quite a bit, so presumably it's quite light?

There are a couple of quick shots of it in the Dr Who Confidential episodes (you can see the opposite side - note that there is a flipped shot of the gun in the episode when Rose grabs it), and it also (briefly!) appears in an episode of Torchwood.

They seem to have bought up a job lot of light guns

This beauty is seen very briefly in the video clip of Suki as a terrorist, when her true identity is revealed.

I may be wrong on the ID of the part. The kit would have to be pretty large scale, and I've yet to find a bike with that pattern on the struts. Some of the Kawasakis and Hondas are similar, but no prizewinner.

Far too light and spindly looking for a peg hanger, speaking as a biker anyway. I know that wouldn't last long with me standing on it
