Doctor Doom Costume (W.I.P)

Hi guys, I have been looking around here for a while and inspired by all the good work to take the plunge. I am completely new to all this so should be a steep (but hopefully fun) learning curve. So I am looking at making the most misunderstood kick ass bad guy there is.... Doctor Doom!

I have looked around the forums and web and seen that a lot of people go for the traditional Doom. Whilst I love the traditional and will be making one anyway, my first Doom is going to be different. Here are the concepts I have.

The armour is to be based on EyeofSauron's extremis files (awesome files highly recommend!)

Here is the start of the chest plate. I haven't looked into the logistics of attaching it all together once done, any suggestions from people? I plan on doing fiber glass the whole thing and if any good maybe making a mould and casting a lighter one (any good tutorials for doing this?).


The mask is going to have to be a custom job, having made a mask already I am not sure it will fit the suit. Just out of curiosity how easy would it be to create a back/chin for this model? Does anyone know of any other Doom masks that I could get the pep files for? My plan is to have a full mask, held together by rare earth magnets?



Busy next few days but hope to have the chest and back done soon. More pics to follow...

Well progress so far. Nearly finished the chest piece, so many small twisty bits for the shoulders and side of chest! Steep learning curve, it hard to know what to make first before to not muck things up. The first shoulder guard I did may need to be cut off but we shall see.

Well progress has been slow but finally got chest piece finished and fiber glassed. Well almost, just the pesky arms to sort out, though I think they will be cut off so I can actualyl put my arms down by my side!



Anyway making my MK2 face plate now, then the rest of the head separately. Hopefully will then have a removable plate, just like in the comics.



Quick question, with cardboard have I got it right that you resin (in and out), fiber glass inside then you can use filler to smooth etc?

Also if I wanted to make mould copies of this, to customize how would I go about that instead of free styling it each time?
