Ok guys,
this is a wee diversion from the usual. If it's in the wrong forum, let me know.
I'm just finishing off converting my basement, part of which is an area for laundry, washing machine, central heating boiler.
The other area is my "studio/shop" with a store off to the back.
anyway, no windows!
I suggested to my wife that we could have a mural of one of our favourite places, in the laundry area to make it a bit better.
i also made the mistake of suggesting a porthole picture taken on the Disney cruise line.
both worked out ok, but I wanted to get a real porthole "look" so I've set out to create one.
first photo shows the result up to now.
ive used a router to create the basic pattern in MDF and sprayed it with primer.
ive now just covered it P38 ( Bondo) to get it smooth etc.
ive also routed out the back face to allow a piece of glass to sit into it before hanging on the wall.
the idea will be that I create the master, then make a mould, before casting the final version in resin.
As I say, it's a bit away from the usual props, but a wee challenge.
BTW , if you want to see my workshop, nip along yo the " show your workshop " post, elsewhere in the forum. It's not finished yet, but I wanted to get on and create something again lol
