Disco Stick: A Collaborative Project >>

I think this still qualifies as a prop replica. :) One of my friends is doing a Lady Gaga costume for Halloween; another friend and I decided to build for her a light-up disco stick from scratch. Our goal was to spend as little money as possible. ;)

First, I found an old dowel and a short section of PVC pipe in my junk pile. I was fortunate in finding an 87-cent threaded coupling at Home Depot that would join the two. Below is a picture before spray-painting; I primed the coupling and PVC pipe and then used a semi-gloss black topcoat. I then added a further coat of metallic silver to the pipe.

Working with my friend, we designed a simple circuit using eleven high-brightness white LEDs and disposable 4.5 V battery packs (just made from three AA cells in series).

My friend then wired everything up with a switch, housing the LED circuit in a plastic dome and studding the whole thing with a bunch of plastic jewels.

I think it turned out great!

Google Images is your friend. There are at least two versions that I've seen; this is the longer black-staffed one.

This is great! Search the forum for lady gaga to find my post about music video props. I made her razor blade glasses from the bad romance video. I hope more people get into music video props!

Thanks! :) Love the glasses!

Let's have some fun, this thread is sick.
I wanna take a ride on your Disco Stick!!

I love how my other half (a big Gaga fan) always cracks up at that line!!

Saw her live last night, and she's sporting a variant of the stick. Looks like she has several different versions that she's used throughout her tour.
