Dexter Season 7 and 8

Re: Dexter Season 7

After last season's finale I couldn't imagine where the writers would go with the show. It's been a roller coaster of a season but Dexter did not disappoint!

Dexter's character has really moved into a different place. This season marked a shift away from his adherence in The Code and particularly his realization of the change. That is important.

With regards to the end of the show I'll guess we see Dexter die by Deb's hand. In the shipping container Dexter dropped his knife and basically told Deb to do what she had to. It was out of character for Dexter to give up. Deb failed and killed LaGuerta. I think we will see a repeat of this dynamic but Dexter will sacrifice/force Deb's hand in the matter. Deb is too broken to do it.

Let's wait and see!!...

I didn't buy the Hannah escape storyline at all. The day you let a junkie mix your temporary coma inducing mixture is the day you die! :lol

Well, come to think of it, Deb now meets dexter "code" after killing an innocent :lol :lol

I was thinking the same thing, but since he did everything in the last 2 episodes to protect Deb, I don't think he will go there.

It would not surprise me if Deb does kill Dexter, even though she keeps saying she doesn't want Harrison to grow up without a father.

I think this last episode was a complete game changer and it's going to be complete quess work to try and figure out what is coming up next season.

Re: Dexter Season 7

I've been fighting this same arguement across the world. I will not stop until there is no one left who believes Deb set Hannah up.

Nap time now.

If you listen to the episode review at Showtimes website the writers of the episode pretty much confirm that Hannah is the one who drugged Deb.

Re: Dexter Season 7

Maybe Dexter will end up on Deb's table? Huh? Huh? Yeah, didn't expect that did ya?

Ha Ha, nobody expected that deb would kill dexter and then Showtime will make a new series called DEBRA, about a police officer that kills just for fun :lol

Baaaam! UNEXPECTED :lol :thumbsup

Re: Dexter Season 7

Or Harrison even though he is a mute turns out to have crazy knife skills and cuts dexters throat in his sleep, and plays the innocent I didn't do it child role...

You forgot to mention "ghost Dexter" mentoring Harrison the same way "ghost Harry" mentors Dexter. :D

Re: Dexter Season 7

I finished watching the season the other night. I liked much of this season, but I have to say, given the turn the show has taken and some of the other "We may drag this out forever" news....yeah, I'm done with this show. I just don't trust the writers to end it in any kind of satisfying way.

?Dexter? season 8 spoilers: producer Scott Buck spills details - Dallas TV | Examiner.com

Scott Buck says Hannah will be back next season either as an ally or enemy, Quinn is back to being suspicious of Dexter more so that Laguerta is dead
Gotta love how originally it was the writers who said season 8 is the last season and now it's up to showtime.

If true this sounds extremely un-satisfying! Hannah is a proven louse as an ally and cannot be a worthy enemy due to being a fugitive.

Quinn is a crooked cop and it wouldn't take Dexter long to uncover this and undermine Quinn's credibility.

God I hope they come up with something better!

I liked Hannah up until she poisoned Deb. That, I think, was a disservice to the character and the show.

But yeah, this all sounds VERY familiar. The show continues to tread water in some ways, while simultaneously taking a tonal turn towards doom and gloom rather than offering ANY glimmer of hope. And frankly, I've gotten a little sick of the trope on the show where Dexter gets close to someone, let's them get to know him, and then they try to kill him, someone he loves, or they just leave. Dexter wants a girlfriend or a buddy or a mentor, and every freakin' time, they open the door, let you think "Maybe things could get better," and we're left with Dexter at the end saying "But no, I'm just evil and bad and I do bad things." Well why the HELL did we spend MULTIPLE seasons "exploring" how maybe he can find a semi-normal life or redeem himself or whatever?

I just don't think the writers have a damn clue what they're gonna do with him. I think this is a concept that, quite simply, got away from them. It started really strong, but ultimately, for me at least, the things that made the show most interesting have been repeatedly played with then tossed aside. It's like Charlie Brown and the football, and I'm just done with it. I don't think they'll end it in a way that leaves me happy, and I'm not interested in wasting time watching it when there are far more, far better shows out there to watch.

Re: Dexter Season 7

The thing with Hannah comin back, there really isn't anything to keep her and Deb from making up now (well except the fact she poisoned her) because Deb can't keep throwing the whole "your a killer" in her face, because now Deb is one herself.

But isn't that kind of the thing? That's what people like this do. They want to be normal and keep trying and trying. Usually it's the last failure at a normal life that makes them snap and go on a spree, half ******, that puts them in the public conscious, scares the crap out of everyone, and winds up getting them caught and/or killed.

Disagree... With most of what you said really, dexter was never in it for a girl friend. He was in it to look normal and to fit in. He has however got this obsession of belonging, being accepted by some one who accepts what he truly is. Just so happens the people who would truly accept a murderer are going to be farked up to say the least. The closest he got *other than Rita* was Luman, but she never truly accepted him. Hence why she left. That being said, I thought 4 seasons of Rita was quite enough and I wasn't sitting there feeling like she was gone to quickly... There has only been 3 seasons since she was killed so I think your being a little harsh (plus it was possibly the biggest shock of the whole series).... Even season 2 he had a weird love triangle going on. I can't help but try and work out what you would rather see.... Rita still alive... Dexter not killing people and being happy? Doing his normal day to day job. That's sounds like something familiar. Maybe you would rather watch NCIS or CSI...

Hannah had to go, she fit the code. Plus by the end of it didn't accept dexter for what he was either. Dexter has always had a mentor and a buddy and a love in deb, get used to it re-watch all the seasons and its always seemed they were to close for comfort. Sorry but if you want happy endings don't watch a show about a serial killer your going to be sorely disappointed. Because HE IS evil and bad and does bad things lol he talks to himself for one, just because he kills killers doesn't make him a hero. If that was the case batman, cough, would just resort to killing every one.

I think it is going to be a hectic season in season 8. Dexter will go down IMO... What I'm waiting for is if Debs going to be dragged down because of him ... Hell it may be Deb who puts the bad dog down.

Oh no worries. No offense taken. :) I have a different experience of the show, though. For me, it's less about Dexter wanting a girlfriend per se, and more about Dexter wanting to be loved for who he is. Romantically, yes, but I think also just in general. And the thing is, each time we cover this same ground the result is the same.

Plus I just see this ending on a HUGE down note. Like Deb killing him at the end, putting him down like the end of Old Yeller or something.

Well, it is a show about a serial killer. Even if Dexter doesn't get incarcerated or killed by the end of the series and lives to a ripe old age, at best he'd very likely end up like Walter "The Tooth Fairy" Kenney from season 6--too old, and no longer physically capable of satisfying those urges. Unless he's somehow cured of his serial killer tendencies, there's really no happy ending to Dexter's story.
