Hello

First of all i need to say that iam very glad to have found this forum,
i have already spent several hours here already, learning and watching.
Such a great place, and so much talent, i have seen some really impressive custom replicas.

I build custommade displays for my customers here in europe, its something i do in my spare time. This time a huge dexter fan has given me the task of creating at least five large displays with dexter caracters.

So my customer has a good budget, and now iam going to start to build displays for all the major caracters in the show, problem is that i have watched dexter only once (all episodes).

So the idea is to build a wall display for each caracter, so i need dexter fans to help me what to put in these displays so my client will be as happy as possible.

What i will be working with is a large display case aprox: 50x60cm 5cm deep.
So first of all iam building the Debra morgan display and dexter display.

So for Debras display iam thinking of adding the following:
signed 8x10 picture
her id badge
prop gun? what does she use?
buisness card? if it excist?

Dexter display:
Signed 8x10 picture
scalpell
2 bloodslides
syringe?
knife?


So thanks for reading this very long post, feel free to contribute with ideas or products you might whant to sell to me. What would you like to see in a dexter display case? :)

there are some great threads on here which will show you many items such as the entire blood slide box replica which was also used in on-screen in the recent episodes so as best as can be bought, there is also a comprehensive thread on Dexters kill bag and all of its contentsi, be sure to post progress pics along the way as we love em here.

Sounds like a awesome project! Here's a list of the following members you can get these items from...

Pitbull- Deb and Dex ID laminate

Drewsmith007- Dexters kill knife

GeneralFrosty- bloodslide boxes, you can ask if he can sell ya a few slides.

The scalpel you can find on ebay as well as ID badge holders

Hope this helps, would love to see pics of your progress on this project!

I started with the Debra morgan display.
It will contain 9 items
( I soon realised that this is going to be a pricy project, when i did a quick count, good that it isnt me whos paying) :)

Any way feel free to comment the following:
Debra:
-2 signed pics 8x10, one in civil clothes one in uniform
-a glock 26, which is the gun she is using from season 2 onwards, i think:confused
-brass sign, with her name etc
-miami pd cloth patch
-her id badge
-custume card (anybody had experience with these?)
-2 bobble heads of her

For the dexter display iam planning on doing the whole inside of the frame with plastic,(KILL ROOM PLASTIC) then adding items, thoughts on that?

Are these displays supposed to span the full length of the series to date or focus on one particular season? That's quite the feat to encompass 7 seasons in one display case, considering:
Deb gets promoted 4 times throughout the series and half of the main characters in the first few seasons have died by now.

That is a really good question, iam going to do dexter and debra as they are now,season 7,
But other displays like the trinity killer and dokes, will be displayed as if they where living, no RIP sign or something like that.

Well thats the plan atleast, feel free to comment this idea.

Wow sounds like an awesome project! Sounds like you got the Deb display nailed. For Dexter, wrapping it in plastic would be cool. If you can find (or if the customer is interested in) Dexter's wristwatch, that'd be cool. A bloodslide, the Kill Knife, syringe, scalpel, his laminate, you can find his American Apparel Henley he uses when he stalks his victims.

If you're planning a Trinity display, his hammer is a found item at Lowes hardware. Its a 22oz steel ripping hammer. A 4 walls flyer or t-shirt. Maybe an ash smudge somewhere with a straight razor or hand mirror too. Trinity is such an awesome character with a lot of possibilities.

I will definitly do my best with these displays. problem with the hammer is that nobody will ship to sweden, but that is just one of the problems i need to solve :cool

LA GUERTA

BATISTA

Iam also going to do Lila and a second debra just for myself.

Do we know what kind of gloves dexter where?
Or does people use only black similar gloves?

yep those are the gloves. I love mine, just got my new pair in. $40 shipped from lapolicegear.com

I would definitely get rid of the LaGuerta idea and make an Ice Truck Killer one. Lots more you can do with him over and her and lots of memorable/ iconic props etc...

So maybe i will try to talk him out of Laguerta, problem is that i dont know how to fill up the ice truck killer display? ideas? Iam not so good at him, what was is MO?

Btw, how about an agent Lundy display?
Does it excist some items related to him?
I saw that he was in only 15 episodes, but i think that he played an importent plot piece in some way.:thumbsup
 
Ice truck killer doll, the hand with the painted finger nails, some smaller ones are the hospital ID, a jar of blood with a hotel room key. Any dexter display needs somethin ITK in it imo

Lundy was a good character but not too much is available
From him, I have his ID which I keep with my trinity stuff but that's it.
Maybe do one display about all the "big bads" ITK, trinity, Jordan chase, ddk, Miguel Prado (even though he wasn't really the big bad (some paper props to put in a display would work))
 
well that is an EXCELLENT idea! :thumbsup

One "big bad" display, each killer gets an signed 8x10, weapon of choice and some small objects to put it together, that is not impossible to do, would save the client some money too, to do one insted of several bad boy displays, considering he whants 100% custommade frames with special glass and lightning.

BTW: can someone link to a correct id holder that dexter and debra uses, i have seen alot on ebay, just whant to come as close as possible to the real thing, neck worn right? link?

Also try to throw somethin of harry in there. he seems to be overlooked A LOT when in fact he is a very big part of Dexter.

My customer has got 4 original autographs that he got in person,
the rest will be PSA/DNA from sources i trust, but with these signed
items you can never be certain. So the four he got in person will be the ones i start with in the debra and dexter display.

By the way, Is PSA/DNA trusted in the us?
I know they drive a serious buisness, but one can never be certain about originality, right ? Whats their reputation?
