Also, Hi! I'm new to this forum and to prop making. I'm a toolmaker by trade and generally enjoy building things:D

I started on my build by working on a pep of the helmet (pep by Dj hicks of Raven props). I made the mistake of rough cutting out all the pieces as apposed to cutting them along the lines so it took twice as long to get that done. I did trace/ score the fold lines for cleaner folds and that helped with the build process substancially. The file is pretty decent but, I didnt understand why there was no pattern to the numbers in relation to the tab positions (i'm not sure if its suppose to be this way or not) . why is 1865 next to 4? I did a test print of the neck and decided it was ok for scaling (it wasn't) the helmet is not sized for people 5'8"-6'2" its gianormous. Either way, I can re-use the pieces for alternate projects.
I completed it in three peices and am going to use it for reference along with screen grabs/ game models during the build.

I decided to have a go at making the helmet out of EVA foam since it seems to take less work than doing the process with pep.
I don't have a head casting, so i used a method gleaned from Evil Ted smtih; using a small helmet. The one i used is a kids baseball helmet with the bill cut off.

I added a "curtain" of tape to the bottom of the helmet to compensate for it being high cut to base of the skull. I left the mouth portion open for the time being as the skul portion of the helmet covers the face and mouth almost entirely.

For horns I ordered a set of : http://www.doctoredlocks.com/ram-horns.html. The feel pretty proportional to my head size, but i may end up re-doing to better fit the scale of the game model. I filled them with expanding foam ( I'm glad that didnt melt them lol) and cut them at an angle so they would sit proper. I plan on attaching them using velcro as apposed to magnets.

Thats all the pics i have for now. I have patterns cut from duct tape, a test helmet done (its super rough), and my horns cut. I'm going to find the scale of the SFP armor tomorrow. I have all of the non-buildables for the iron regalia gloves (arm guads and mechanics gloves). I'm going to do some simple leg armor because the cloak from the SFP will cover my legs pretty completely.

Any input or reference pictures are greatly appreciated as I got into this to learn and meet new people!

Best regards,
-TM

Good stuff, I look forward to seeing more :)

Thank you!

General:

Arms are almost done. I need to pattern the costume as it has already been scaled.
Need:
- strapping
-cobalt blue material (I'm thinking cotton?)
- velcro

Here are some updates. I really like working with EVA as it is easy to re-do if you mismake something. Shaping it is a little difficult because of how lightly you must use the dremel to prevent digging in. I'm use to working with steel which doesn't bend as readily when you grind on it

Messy work area:

Lower portion of arm. Its mostly bands with some strapping on them. I need to get some nylon in the mail. I'm going to secure it to the arm guard with velcro and use REM to secure the bands closed.

Full forearm. Its almost ready to start the battle damage/ painting process. The plate near the elbow has compound angels which were somewhat difficult to add on. They arent perfect but they are close

Looking good so far. I'm annoyed as I don't have the year 2 ram yet, just that deer skull lol. You going to make the year 2 ghorn to go with the costume since they accidentally leaked that today at E3?
