well, once again i tried to put rebelscums bubbles in my clamp. they wont fit snug without tightening the clamp all the way down, then it wont fit onto the tube. :cry
ive broke a original rod, and lo and behold today i broke a replica lever.is there anyway to switch to put a new threaded rod onto a old lever? I remember a member c-squared did this along time ago for me.

and is there a trick to getting the bubbles to fit snugly??? do they all want to slide out?! Someone please give me some advise.:$

Re: new threaded rod old graflex lever (rebelscum bubbles)

Oh dear...hmm....so you want a new rod on your replica lever or real lever? You can either get someone to weld it back and retap the screw or have a stainless steel rod machined and replaced. That way stainless steel will never break? PM me and see what I can do. Thanks. :)

ok i got a new lever assembly from kop. because my original one snapped while trying to put in rebelscums bubbles. they are small, and they slide out. the new rod i can get out of the clamp, it still turns, but the lever broke from the pin. I want to take the old pin and lever and put it on a new rod. these bubbles are driving me nuts

ok i kinda jury rigged it. i used gorrilla glue to put the clamp lever back on the pin but I cant get it to tension. do you think if i put a drop of JB weld on it I could open and close the lever?

Demonseed, I have an old lever you can have. Email me with your address to [redacted] and I'll mail it to you.

It's the whole thing. I took it out of a clamp I used on a Luke ROTJ V2. Got your address, I'll mail it tomorrow. :)

for your calc bubbles, try a little duct tape on the back to thicken it. Worked for me.

I got your PM's, sorry I haven't been on the RPF lately.

The trick is to loosen your lever by unscrewing it until it has just enough tension to hold the upper and lower tubes together. Then text fit the bubble strip. If the fit is too loose, then tighten one rotation and try again. If you get to a point where it needs a half-rotation but that puts the lever facing the wrong direction, loosen the clamp and turn the threaded sidebar around because that changes the position of the threads. Then repeat the process.

Remember, start with the lightest tension on the clamp and work up, not the other way around.

I'm also surprised the threaded screw broke, it's steel. Usually the lever breaks at the pin. Levers are easy to change, just tap out the pin and replace.

It should sit between the clamp sides like this:
