I used a water shoe sole and some Shoe Goo to attach my spider-shoes and it was super easy. The only problem is ensuring that you don't accidentally glue yourself to the soles, but other than that, I don't see a reason to even bother sewing (I can't sew, so any chance to I avoid it I do). I think the water soles look better too.
