Death Star - Levitating Bluetooth speaker

HI Guys,

I found this bluetooth speaker from ebay.... and thinking of converting it to a Death Star..

With a little work this can be an amazing little display.

Now if only I know how to paint the surface like this... The base color is not the problem, but the small prints could be, I was thinking of printing it using decal paper..

Anybody got a good Death star Surface map or reference photo I can get the decals from?

Any suggestion guys?

For one, don't use that picture, its not accurate at all. Heres a thread to one I made making it best I could and completely around the whole thing.

Using these 2 threads should be able to get yours pretty good looking, depending on how much work you plan on adding.
I would just paint it a light gray, then paint the darker gray blocks in and detail it from there. It seems kind of small, so a lot of detail might be hard. But whatever you do, good luck and hope to see pics.

Search for Death Star Textures in Google, and I'm sure you will find a lot of graphics that can be converted into decals. The problem will be trying to get a flat decal to go on a curved surface and still keeping the DS's grid lines. You might have better luck using the graphics as a paint guide and doing a lot of masking.
