Howdy folks.

Just about to start a build on the titular model kit from Moebius Models.

But! problem is I can't nail down the colour? It certainly is'nt black - to me more of a dark grey and in different light it is a light gray. The kit instructions call for a gunmetal grey but to me that is'nt correct after watching the movie scenes with the car over and over again.

So! has anyone else had this conundrum with the colour for this kit?

Thanks for any and all ideas.

Very nice pic Bill!

And thank you for the reply.

I think this is one of those chameleon type cars as it looks totally different every time you see it, Good kit for some weathering as this car has seen some action and although my no.1 Batmobile is the '89 version this one looks mean just sitting there.

I painted mine Tamiya gunmetal grey.

Im currently building this kit and im finding Tamiya spray TS 82 rubber black to be a good match... believe captain hansolo on another site and Interstellar modeler on youtube used this color with great results. Its a hint darker than panzer grey. Maybe more like Nato black... from what little painting ive completed the car looks great and I can see how weathering will make the car look much like the display.
Not to highjack the post but...
Im in serach of instruction for this kit anyone care to share some photots... my wife manage to throw out mine. My fault not having my area orgainzed.

Hope the info helps

Thanks Al.

I did want to use that Rubber Black but postage costs for areosols in the UK is ridiculous for such a small tin so I went down the Vallejo Air Medium Gunship Grey 71.097 and I will get around to posting up some pictures.

Just sent a pm re:- those instructions mate.

Thank you again kindly and yes paint prices can be a issue especially over seas shipping. Being you are in the uk what brands are available to you. Maybe you will have to mix up your own brew... ill send you a photo

Iain no problem to the IM message..

We're getting there.

Work has continued on the Batmobile and the front axle has been completed. I forgot to take a pic of the 0805 smd's I am using for those yellow running lights on the front fenders but you may just be able to make out one of the holes drilled to accommodate those lights.

The rear of the smd's were then given a Tulip coat to block out the light and left to dry overnight. The next day the wires were primed and then given a coat of the same grey colour used on the bodel panels to blend them in. Once that was done those wires were threaded through the front axle and into the main body.

The front wheels were attached and the two halves of the front fender glued together. Once the glue was cured I rubbed away some of the paint along the seam to weather it.

The front end was then given a dull cote and once again the kit was left alone to dry overnight.

My attention turned back to those running lights and although I have ordered some 0.5mm PETG sheet to make a lamp cover I decided to try something I first used on my Vor'cha and that was to mix some Krystal Klear with a Tamiya clear (in this case yellow) and then to "paint" it onto the light area on the fenders.

Paint and KK.

Running lights masked off.

Yellow goo appplied, masking tape removed and will leave her alone overnight (again) to allow that goo to cure.

So! There we have it for this latest update and I hope that you like what you see so far.

Thanks for all your comments and for watching this build.

Looks good. I had their tumbler kit from Dark Knight but the parts were really tiny and hard to move around, this one looks large enough for easy assembly.
