Hello there ladies and gents!

We have been playing around with the Poly-Props Ltd SHIELD resin on foam and 3D prints with great results. The resin self levels when attached to the foam or 3D prints, leaving an awesome, smooth, glossy surface!

However, we have been asked to try the resin on a Darth Vader pepakura helmet donated to us by David Goff at the Pepakura library!

Let's hope this works out!

Original helmet, no coats!

We applied a coat of SHIELD and we discovered it worked a lot differently on card. We stuck it on but realised we should take time, only applying on single surfaces. It cures clear

Applied additional coats, up to 3. It has made the helmet hard and rigid. We primed it to see where we needed to give attention. Time to sand it!

Started sanding the SHIELD coating and primed again to see this smooth surface!

We are trying to get rid of the Fiberglass and bondo process and replace it with a single product.

Although SHIELD needs work when applied to card, the next SHIELD product will be perfect for it.... watch this space ;)

Rick - would be interested to see how this goes. Any idea where we might be able to get a hold of this? Can only see a facebook site available and no prices etc. Is it available for sale yet?

Hey Dezziedc
Our web store is currently under development and the SHIELD release date is yet to be confirmed.

All I can say is pre-orders for the first batch will be available within the next few months!

Thanks Rick, looking forward to getting a hold of some of this stuff and seeing what it can do.
