Re: Darktrooper Progress Thread

i see rick every weekend and i give him hell about it. even offered to finish it, but like you said, i dont think he will get back to it in the near future.

Re: Darktrooper Progress Thread

Ok, I've taken a long hiatus from this. I've kept putting this off for too long. I'm getting this done, if it kills me. No other project or anything until THIS is finished. I have recovered my old 3D model and starting this again

I have already begun repairing and making adjustments to the sculpt that survived 2 moves across the state...

Confined indoors today, as maintenance men were occupying the outside of the building, pressure cleaning the entire apartment, so got some more work done to this...

I began fixing the rear. I'd say the biggest obstacle with this is getting the entire back side of this sculpt clean. You can see the nastiness of it. I'm thinking that I'm going to cover the entire dome and back end in the new clay, as it's much better quality and much easier to work with.

Overlooking the 3d model, it appears that the back is supposed to be rounded, versus the sharp angled look of it before, therefore, I've added more clay to "round" it out. Still needs some minor work and smoothing, but almost there.

Since I was re-working this area, I've decided to try and pronounce the detail, but think I need to round it down and give it a lower profile..

Getting there...

Great job getting the sculpt round on that low definition model. I was thinking of modeling a high poly model of the Darktrooper helmet and armor. It would take some artistic license I think though, with the scarcity of refrences available.

Which version were you looking at doing? The 3d model I do have comes directly from the game itself and is pretty low poly already.

I was thinking of doing the version from Battlefront 2. I guess the same version you're working on.

I'll try to post pictures at some point, but I'm making some headway. However, I'm going to have to make a transition mold, which I want to do this month. I'm going to use polyurethane rubber, since it's significantly cheaper then silicone.

So think you can get this done for SWW?

hey been watching this thread with interest. The helmet is looking great! I really like the look you are achieving; keep going! :)

Re: Darktrooper Progress Thread update: 10/13/11

Instill need to upload pics.

The other night, I made a realization about the 3d model and how it affects this build. Well, it never occurred to me to compare the darktrooper model to that of the standard storm trooper in the game. Sure enough, some of the pieces I thought were custom are in fact, not. These pieces being the forearms (already TK in nature), the biceps and shins. This means that the only custom parts that need to be completly made is the shoulder bells, chest/back (enlarged TK style), jet pack and helmet.

I can acquire 90% of the suit independently of the build. I'm getting anxious...
