Creating my Sith Acolyte Outfit

After watching SonAlexander's turorials on Youtube, I am ready to create a Sith Acolyte Outfit.
I subscribed and watched Stealth's tutorials and downloaded the Pepakura Designer 3 but I am having a problem. I received the Pepakura templates from Fierfek and noticed that they can only be opened with Pepakura Viewer, not the designer, which means I can't rescale them, they don't have the matching numbers, I can't remove the tabs and separate the pieces in order to make foam pieces. I have gone to other sites such TheDentedHelmet and have printed off templates for Boba Fett and this isn't a problem.
Does anyone know if I have to purchase Pepakura Designer for these functions to be available? Has anyone else had this problem?

Those functions will not work on the purchased version either. It sounds to me that Feirfek has locked the file so it can not be edited.

If that is the case, it is recent. I have reviewed other members' threads and the pics of their assembled templates have the numbers all over them. :(

Hi DarthMalice,
I don´t know whether you solved your problem already. But I´m working with the same projekct at the moment. I had no problems with Fierfeks files I received about 2 weeks ago (rescaling, moving tabs and separating for foam pieces...) although I am using the free version of the Pepakura Designer3; I used this link (Pepakura Designer Download - Papiermodelle - PC-WELT). Maybe I could help you.

Thanks Markandson. I just downloaded from your link and it is saying the same when I open Pepakura Designer 3: Cannot load file of specified type. I shot Fierfek a message but he hasn't been online to receive it. I pieced the chest together using cardstock while I have been waiting. It is a nice little challenge without the numbers but so far it has turned out ok. I gave it it's first layer of paper mached yesterday. Will probably put a second layer on tonight the fiberglass it later in the week.

I am not doing anything differently but am now able manage my pep files. Thanks Fierfek for the PM.
I had the day off yesterday and started scaling the pep files etc. for foam. I am using 1/2" thick foam.
I attached the cod piece to a web duty belt that I had lying around collecting dust. I have it to where the snaps are in the back.
The thighs I have attached to the web belt with buckles. I placed extra 3mm foam around the back of the thigh pieces using Velcro in order to secure them to my leg.
The gauntlet turned out a little larger than I would like so I will have to scale that down a little.

No problem, glad you were able to get started. You're really off to a good start. I'll be following your build with interest because I just love seeing how these come together.

Well I spent the past two days making the second gauntlet and one of the shins. I went out today and bought some bottles of Modge Podge and applied two layers onto the pieces that I have completed. Tomorrow I will build the second shin and begin applying my first layer of Resin/Bondo mix on the everything. Crossing my fingers that it works out. Sorry no updated pics at this time.

I finished my shin and tried all of the pieces on together. So far it looks good. I replaced the Velcro on the back of the thighs with 1" wide elastic bands. The shins were rather snug around the back of the calf so I split the back and applied elastic at the top, middle and bottom and it fits perfectly. The gauntlets were continuously sliding down my hand so I applied elastic along the wristline and it works great.
Applied my first layer of Rondo to the thighs and it seems ok at this point. Also applied bondo to my helm. Sanded it down this morning and looks good.
When I get home from work, I will apply a second coating of Rondo on the thighs and apply the first coating on the chest and cod.

As I have no experience with foam, it is exciting for me to see how the costume parts come out this way. Will the parts get firm/hard, when you apply the coating of Resin? Or are they still flexible?

The legs have gotten a little more firm but you can still tell that they are of foam-make. Mostly the Rondo is to hide the many seams of the many separate pieces...at least from what I have seen.

Not too impressed with the way the Rondo mix worked out on my thighs. Two layers and the seams are still evident and sanding is a pain. This morning I put a layer of Bondo on them and the chest piece. Should be able to sand them down, prime them, and paint them tonight.

Here is my progress so far. The shins have one layer of bondo on them and the gauntlets are up next. I just went out and bought some black fabric today and will be making the robe in the next few days then I will be done.

My acolyte armor complete with saber from Ultrasabers

Congratulations, you have made it! I am absolutely impressed by the speed you made this armor, and it looks really good. As we started at the same time, I just finished the mask. I will have to try foam next...

I am going to the Motor City Comic-con Saturday May 18th donning my Sith outfit. Just bought my ticket online. Hope to meet everyone there!!
