Coverting a real Sterling into a Stormtrooper blaster

I just picked up a British Sterling 9mm Sporter. For those who don't what it is, a company called called Wise Lite Arms is making them in semi-automatic. They run around $500-600. The only problem with them is they have 16" barell to make it a legal rifle. In doing so, the barrel sticks out about 8" from the end of the receiver. Looks kind of hokey. However you get ashort barreled rifle permit for it (a $200 tax stamp) and have a gunsmith turn the barrel down to the appropriate size for you. They also offer a faux silencer for it for around $80. So you could make a "silenced" looking Stormtrooper blaster. I'm doing that for now until I can round up all the pieces I need.

That is where you guys come in. I know where to get most of the pieces, but I want to get some metal grips to install. I don't think sticky tape will work when the vent gets hot from firing. What I thought about doing was finding some metal ones, drilling small holes through the receiver tube and on the backside of the metal grip material and screwing them in place. What would you guys recommend?

Here is what it looks like (not my pic)

Pic from www.moorescnr.com if you want to order from them. The cheapest place I found was classic arms.
