Contact Lenses

I noticed on several other threads that there were conversations about contact lenses but not exactly what I was looking for. For a little while now I've been trying to find a reliable but cost effective pair of mirrored contacts for a Riddick costume but every site I find is either $400 per lens or seemingly sketchy. I would assume that people here know better than most so, any thoughts?

(Also wouldn't mind if this thread turned into discussions about other kinds of lenses, resources are so useful! :))

Thanks!

Remember - Those lenses have a hole for the pupil, and only cover the iris.
The REALLY pricey ones are the full-sclera one-way ones with no hole!

You do need a prescription to buy and wear contact lenses, even if you have 20/20 vision. An optometrist has to first look at your eyes to make sure that you are able to wear them... and after a year you have to go back if you wish to purchase any more. It's kind of a pain in the butt... but I need them to see.

Woww..Riddick fans!
Wearing mirrored contact lenses like Riddick must be cool! But also, the price is cool.:(
Before testing mirrored contact lenses, I have some information about how to use mirrored contact lenses, the tips, few side effects, and the procedure.
Hopefully it'll be helpful.:thumbsup

Also make sure you take proper care of your lenses. They can get infected with bacteria if not properly cared for, and that can cause serious damage to your eyes. I've worn contacts for over 15 years, and a few years ago, I developed serious corneal ulcers and almost needed a double cornea transplant. This was because my lenses were past their prime, and I'd been wearing them while swimming in an over chlorinated pool (and getting splashed in the face a lot), and there was a bacterial build up. Excruciatingly painful. You never want to go to the optometrist, have them look into your eyes and say "Oh my"

To maintain proper hygiene of your eyes you must first make your lens infection free. Wearing a contaminated pair of contact lenses would develop an eye infection which might result in redness, burning, or blurred vision. It is advised that you remove your contact lenses and discontinue use as soon as you feel any such irritation in your eye. Consult a doctor and only after that you must put on your lenses.

For the better hygiene of your eyes and lenses you must never wear another person's lenses. This might invite infection from the other person's eyes to yours. The eyes of the contact lens wearers become more sensitive to sunlight. Therefore, you must wear sunglasses with total UV protection or use a hat when you go in the sun. You must also keep your eyes lubricated by a rewetting solution or plain saline solution to avoid dryness.

Taking Care of Colored Contact Lenses

Proper care of colored contact lenses used in Halloween and such other events is necessary since wearer are likely to use heavy makeup with glitters on both body and hair. Lenses should be cleaned according to eye specialist's advice, and they should not be worn for very long duration. Makeup elements like eye liners should be used carefully so that they don't pass beneath the contact lenses causing harm to eyes. Best way of cleaning the lenses is to use natural saline and avoiding mixture of contact lens solutions.

Last but not the least; sharing the lens with others could be potentially dangerous and should be avoided at all costs.
