Conan O'Brien heading to TBS in November

Yikes... TBS? I am huge Conan fan but that doesnt sound very promising. Lets hope I'm wrong...

A cable network? UGH. I have TBS, but the only reason I could see going to cable would be for less stringent FDA...or FCC...USDA...whatever...regulations on what he broadcasts.

But being on cable hopefully he'll go back to more edgier things like bringing the poor ol' Masturbating Bear out of retirement.

I would assume that all his old characters are property of NBC now. I may be wrong about that though...

I think that was a condition of being released from his NBC contract. All the previous skits & characters are supposedly NBC's intellectual property. Which I think is bogus, but then again, I can't remember where I had heard that, so hopefully I'm wrong.

I'd be pleased to see masturbating bear again.

I'm pretty sure all of the old characters are NBC's IP, so CoCo can't use them.

What a petty thing for NBC to do. Like the masturbating bear or "in the year 3000" are actually going to get used by them. Makes no sense other than giving NBC the chance to stick it to Conan.

Still not sure what to think about TBS yet.....

A little odd - as in we did not see it coming, but lets give Conan the benefit of the doubt. Creatively, he may have a much longer leash on TBS than he would have on FOX or ever had on NBC.
This may end up being the rebirth of Conan in a very positive way - we may see more funny and less holding back due to censorship and politics.

Did you even read WHY he decided TBS before jumping to all these conclusions that it's such a bad idea?

Yahoo News

Sounds like a LOT of hassle with the Fox networks in how programming would be, the commercial breaks and syndication contractual obligations.

Too true...FOX looked like a bad idea.

Saw this mentioned in a write up of the stage show he's doing:

In a nod to intellectual property law concerns, one "Late Night" character received a makeover (the Masturbating Bear morphed into the Self-Pleasuring Panda) while another show staple got renamed (the "Walker, Texas Ranger" Lever -- which triggers ridiculous clips from the CBS action drama -- became the Chuck Norris Rural Policeman Handle, earning some of the night's biggest laughs).
