I wonder if it was a promotional suit from the studio or something ?

Given the time period some of those really aren't that bad. Can you dell that Dungeons & Dragons was still popular? lol That Ripley suit looks like it walked off the movie set.

Those were the days back before Cons got to commercialized and began to be big business.

So much creativity and Fan passion.

Gotta love those late 70's early 80's hotel carpets and walls! :lol
 
I do not believe those are either Comic-Con or 1980.

I know several of the folks in those pics and recognize some of the costumes.

Has to be '82 to '84 and looks like a Western-Con in Los Angeles.

Several of those costumes are from the Nine Princes of Amber group we did.
 
For a moment, I thought that Timelord headdress was full size. Shame it isn't. Someone should really do a run of those.

This woman is Kathy Sanders. She made costumes for Disneyland for a while. You can still see some of her work on some of the figures on It's a Small World ride.

That is definitely the Airport Marriott. And Western Con.
