CLOSED - Anyone have ROTS Vader measurements?

I have seen some people who have used laser measuring devices to measure the screen used props and costumes from the Star Wars movies, and I need some measurements.

I need to know the length of the "tie" part in the middle of the ROTS Darth Vader chest armor if anyone has ever measured it with a laser device.

I know the Rubies armor is very similar, but they have altered it for sure, and I need to know the original length of the "tie" for when I am to make a fiberglass chest armor.

Thanks.

Please show us a photo and we can help.

Re: Anyone have ROTS Vader measurements?

Thanks.

I have some old photos here of my Rubies ROTS Armor.

As you can see, the Rubies armor is as big as the armor on my lifesize ROTS Vader, so I guess the size is right, but in the movies, all the stripes on the front of the armor were flush with one and other, but not on the Rubies armor.

So the measurements I need is of the middle part of the armor, because this way I will get know know what the Rubies guys did to alter the armor. Either they extended the black stripes or they cut the grey stripes inwards, but also the middle "tie" is extended further out than the black stripes, so either they extended the "tie" part or cut the other parts inwards...

If I get the measurements of the screen used armor "tie" then I will hopefully find something out.

Thanks.

Re: Anyone have ROTS Vader measurements?

Could anyone who has a laser measuring thingy please take some measurements for me then? I dont really know if there are any other events where they will put out the real ROTS Vader though, I live in Norway...nothing ever happens here. *chirp chirp chirp*

Re: Anyone have ROTS Vader measurements?

I could only find that he had an Episode V Vader in there, and I need the measurements of the screen used Episode III Vader armor, but thanks for the help anyway.

The other site didnt seem to work that well, gets stuck when I press Star Wars.

You should try to contact Björn on his website.

Re: Anyone have ROTS Vader measurements?

i got a portumac FG rots armor, and it looks pretty darn close to the movie one.

might look at his, or ask him bout it.

Re: Anyone have ROTS Vader measurements?

I've been half-heartedly working on my Rubie's armor for a long time and for some reason I never noticed that the screen-used armor is flush at the stripe edges. Thank you for pointing that out.

I've always found the Rubie's armor to be more accurate in general size and shape (curvature) than the Portumac. It's a nice set of armor, no doubt, but to me it looks to be too wide overall and the shoulders being not wide enough, if that makes any sense. Too wide in the chest, too shallow in the shoulders I guess is what I'm trying to say.

Unfortunately I don't have any measurements of the real armor but perhaps we can scale it from one of the other pieces. Are there any known measurements for the chestbox or belt? You've got me really interested now.

I do believe that the Rubies armor was infact cast from the original molds, like the Master Replicas helmet, they got permission to make an armor out of their molds and bring back to their Rubies factory of horrors, then tweaked the fudge out of it and made the things in plastic.

So in my opinion, the only armor I've seen close enough to the movie is the Rubies. Also there is another maker out there that has simply recast the Rubies armor and selling fiberglass copies, but I could clearly see that the maker had joined together all the stripes to make the armor flush, but in the wrong way so that the armor looks too pointy at the bottom.

Now, the reason why I need the measurement is to know how the Rubies people have tweaked the original shape. Either the ends of the grey stripes have the original length and the black stripes were extended, or the black stripes have the original length, and the grey stripes have been cut inwards.

All I know is that they did infact cut away some of the top of the middle "tie", but Im only half sure that they extended it at the bottom, so the original length lies either in the black or the grey stripes.

I do have the measurements of the original chestbox. It is 6 inches wide and tall.

Re: Anyone have ROTS Vader measurements?

Well Master Replica sold the rubies as : as Original ep 3 armor.

OK.. They did it smart. They are not lying.. They are telling the truth its an original ep 3 armor made from Lucas Art.
Its original and made by Lucas Art but not cast of the original. :lol

Its original because its made by new molds for the rubies series.
Nowhere have they said it was made from the casting of ep 3 movie version. :confused

Smart marketing. :love

Nothing on the rubies are correct.

Re: Anyone have ROTS Vader measurements?

Nothis is correct for sure, but atleast the Rubies armor is very very much alike the real thing, so they can surely be modified into looking screen accurate, and that is what I'm planning to do, right after I get those measurements and some silicon...

Where did you get those measurements? The Rubie's box looks a little small at 6 1/4" and I quickly scaled the armor from that and it made the "tie" on the armor around 7" long, which we know is too small based on the Rubie's armor. I'm just curious as to where the 6" came from as that would surely make the armor even smaller.

Re: Anyone have ROTS Vader measurements?

Ahh, so thats what it was. I have a lifesize ROTS Vader standup, and as you can see in my photos in page one, my armor alignes with the standup armor just fine, so I measured the chestbox dimentions off of that.

I found that the chestbox was 16 X 16 cm's, but then I asked someone else later what dimentions the "original mold" Rubies chestbox had, and he said that it was 6 X 6 inches.

So now that you told me that the Rubies ROTS chestbox is 6 1/4, it made me look at my measuring tape, and what do you know, 16 cm's is right anyway.

I suppose thats the correct size for the ROTS chestbox then, it was infact scaled down, just look at Vader in ANH, Dave was alot bigger than Hayden, and Daves chestbox almost covered his entire torso between the armor and belt, but the ROTS Vader has lots of room between these, so my guess is on 6 1/4 ~ 16 cm's - Thank the force for that because these are the dimentions I used to make the chestbox out of clay with for mold making.
