This is my latest project after being on hiatus for a while. My version of commander Blys pistols. Just got the rough draft by looking at all the pictures i could get (not many). One picture came from a small video a friend found for me. Anyways here are the pics. I was thinking of casting it but im not quite sure what the best RTV is to use. Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks.

I know Mold Max is good but requires a gram scale. I have no knowledge of RTV's myself but I went into a modeling type store that sells all that stuff and asked. They man I spoke to pointed me in the direction of Smooth-Sil 920 to use. It is a 1:1 ratio by volume. I went home and used it on piece I sculpted and it worked great. I used it with a brush on technique however. I do not know if that works well pourable. But like I said, I think Mold Max is your best bet for pouring.

Thanks for the info. I'll check into it. Idealy i would need to pour it and have a decent amout of pot life. Probably 45-60 min working time. Oh, and a 1:1 mix ratio would be nice too.

I use Smooth-On products almost exclusively. Great stuff, and great people.

I personally use their 1:1 "OOMOO™ 25" Silicone to make my molds with, but it has a short pot life (15 minutes), and you'd want something longer. I'd suggest their "Ecoflex 00-30" Silicone rubber. It has a 45 minute pot life, 1:1 by volume mix ratio, and cures in 4 hours. :D

Good luck. :thumbsup
