Cloak & Dagger

Here is another great 80's film in need of some attention...Cloak & Dagger. I was wondering if anyone on the RPF has made the sticker artwork for the Atari game cartridge and/or box. There would be a front sticker and a spine sticker. I figure these could be printed on some sort of Matte Metalic paper and glued to any old Atari cartridge and be a great replica prop.

Does anyone have any hi-res shots of the game and box that we could work from? Thanks!!

That is a still shot from the film... that is the prop I would love to recreate.

The Atari 5200 game actually never made it to production. I recall reading that there was an actual Arcade stand up game. The game saw limited arcade release though.

Here is what I read at Wikipedia: "Critical to the movie's plot is an Atari video game called Cloak & Dagger. The game was under development using the title Agent X when the movie producers and Atari learned of each others' projects and decided to cooperate. This collaboration was part of a larger phenomenon at the time of movies featuring video games as critical plot elements (as with Tron and The Last Starfighter) and of video game tie-ins to the same movies (as with the Tron games for the Intellivision and other platforms). The arcade version of Cloak & Dagger appeared in 1983 prior to the release of the film. The Cloak & Dagger game screens from the movie are mostly from the arcade version, and not the Atari 5200 game console as it would appear in the film. Although an 5200 version of the game was planned, it never was released due to the video game crash of 1983 and eventual sale of Atari."

So any photos online of an Atari 5200 cartridge were just props made for the film using other games with new labels.

I don't think the font is one that can be found. I have Photoshop skills, so I might just crack down and make it from scratch. Since I am new to the RPF and haven't figured out things yet, I will need help from poeple on how to upload the highest resolution pictures. as soon as I get something together I will share it with everyone. And if someone beats me to the punch, that would be awesome!!

I used to own a Cloak & Dagger coin-op machine.

Bought it from the guy who wrote the game, Rusty Dawe.

I used to know where the secret doors were to take you straight to the bottom.

Font is pretty hard, I've found a decent version of the atari logo. The 5200 I'm looking for a font that matches the 0's closest I've found so far is Copperplate Gothic Light but the 5 and 2 don't match correctly.

(update its Futura light)

I remember this movie now that I see it. Man the good old days lol. I never knew there was a videogame crash. This would be a neat project as you can get old 2600 and 5200 carts dirt cheap at fleamarkets. Actually the stickers'll probably cost you more than the carts.

Yeah, finding the font for Cloak and Dagger is pretty hard - its in the Times family, I used Times New Roman and customized the A and got it pretty close. See attached.

This is one of those classic kids films like Goonies and Never Ending Story. I remember playing the game a few times in the arcade. This label will make a good prop with an old cart.
