Catwoman From Batman Returns

I was just curious to see what has been done out there. I made the claws for Michelle Pfeiffer for the film and I have never seen anyone attempt them for a prop or costume. If you have, post images I would love to see your work.

Thanks

Saw one when I was at F.A.C.T.S 2004 in Belgium. No idea who she is though but excellent costume:

had a friend who did most of the construction on the M.P. catwoman suit. He was the late Tom Culnan.
the basic skin was sheet latex as I recall, the stitches were sculpted, then glued on while she was in the suit by Tom. even the scene where her arm gets torn revealing skin, the skin was a latex appliance(don't know why). good closeups of the corset in the book "History of Batman".

Wow. Very, VERY cool.

there is a member over at The Brotherhood of the Bat forum named Miss Kittie who did an EXCELLENT replica. you can check out BOTB at http://com1.runboard.com/bbrotherhoodofthebat

I'm glad you stopped by and look forward to seeing the claws.[/b]

I will go check it out.

Very cool, I remember going to the costume dept at warner bros. to do fittings for the claws and saw all of the costumes for batman returns as well as the Joker wardrobe from the first film. I wish I could have met your freind, sorry to hear he passed.

Wow, that's interesting. Have any closeup pictures of the ones you did?[/b]

Yes I do and I will post them when I get a chance. I built 4 or 5 sets of metal ones and at least 20 sets of stunt copies. A friend of mine designed them with TIm Burton and he made the one set that opened. But his were only used in one shot, such a waste. While I was making the metal ones I built an extra set for myself, just in case they lost them or needed more copies. I still have the set mounted on castings of Michelle Pfeiffers hands.

Thanks for the info

that looks pretty sweet. The lara croft character looks like shes been pumping up. :confused

Here are some quick shots. I will take better ones later. Important to note that each claw was unique, their were no two alike. The gloves are not the correct ones, the real gloves were vinyl.

Enjoy

Oh gaaah.. that was so long ago. Here's some "pre-dig" scanned photos.. wish I had better shots.. :unsure

This was one I made for a friend in FL. for a video store promo.. don't remember what the claws were.. probably fake nails..the suit was stretch polyvinyl with yarn stitches..

This was a (unknown) couple at a local SF con when the movie came out..
Did you do anything else for the show mini??

Yeah, she has been there for at least 3 years, but I haven't seen her this year. Her costume was great, only the whip was obviously a very cheap one.

Yep, those are the ones. A great prop maker/ model maker designed those and I basically copied them for all of the others. That was alot of weeks, alot of silver solder, and alot of graphite paint.

Thanks for the images

You don't know how much I appreciate that sentiment. Batman Returns might be my favorite movie ever. I couldn't even tell you how many times I watched it. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Wow... I had no idea the claws were like that. I thought they were all made from a "seam ripper" type of tool from her sewing kit.

Thanks for the pics. That is great.
