Can I buy self adhesive metalic foil to use in an inkjet printer ?

For what? What are you printing on it? I know they make seals for certificates and envelopes.

You could just print the image, or lettering on transparent sticker sheets. Than stick that on top of a vinyl film ( gold, chrome, brushed steel ). You should be able to buy a foot or two at a local sign shop.

Thanks for the replies. It's to add crests to the outside of ID wallets and similar items.

Did the ink stick pretty well to the material? I've seen some inkjet foils where the ink lifts off the shiny foil if touched.

The ink is on there pretty good, but I would definitely not want to get it wet. Since this is on my guitar, I actually sprayed nitrocellulose (guitar) lacquer over it. It's handle-able though (with the caveat that you don't really want to get fingerprints on the silver).

May I please ask what type of printer / setting you used? So far, using an Epson RX600 on various settings has not gotten me a decent level of adherence. Any contact, however slight, will peel off the ink as the foil is so shiny and smooth. :unsure

I am going to try a protective spray, but I think the problem is the lack of adherence of the ink.
