These masks were created by legendary makeup maestro Harry Thomas, best known for his supporting role with Universal's Jack Pierce in helping to create some of that studio's famous monsters. Thomas of course went on to work on many Ed Wood opuses plus The Unearthly, Navy Vs. the Night Monsters, Killers from Space and perhaps 100 other low budget epics.

The two masks pictured below were acquired from Harry by his protege. Alas, she can't remember what film these were from - I'm hoping the members of this board may have longer memories.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I agree they are excellent, and the skull does bear some resemblance to Frankenstein's Daughter, but I think that has more to do with Thomas' style.

Thanks for your observations!

Any others?

Lulu,
I would like to see some more photos, profile etc. but I am pretty sure the mask on the Right is the Teenage Frankenstein. I say this, from the twisted nose, the enlarged right eye and the twisted flesh going to the top of the head. If you can confirm this, you have an incredible piece of monster movie history.
You should contact Bob Burns, as he has a lot of knowledge and history of Thomas's work

Thanks Cheviot and Mr Monster for your responses.

I wish I could agree with you but the mask has two oversized eyes and the mouth is not cut open like in the Teenage Frankenstein pics.

Also, I'm pretty sure that makeup was created by Philip Scheer.

I guess I'll have to keep looking - again, any ideas welcome!

You make a good point lulu. I think I was looking more at the general shapes, which have become distorted over time.
