Can anyone help me? Who made this?

Hi Guys.
Not posted in a while. Mainly because I don't really build that much these days - kids, busy working life etc - I tend to do costumes now - but I do still lurk and read quite a bit... hopefully some of the older crowd remember me, particularly for my Blakes 7 bracelets and hand guns. :)
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here could help me? Does anyone remember who made this, and more importantly, is he/she still around?

Thanks for you help!

Hey G,

PLEASE do more Blake's Seven guns and bracelets, I had to sell mine a while back.

And yes I think it was Rodann who did them, maybe. Haven't seen him around in a while either.

Hey Mic - good to see you're still here! Hope you're well. I actually dug out the templates for the B7 bracelets last weekend and thought maybe it was time to do a few more...

The reason I was asking about this - someone at work was looking at my keys and said 'oh wow, sonic screwdriver' - she was a lady, so i forgave her ;) and I went away thinking 'Oh wow, that would be INCREDIBLE'. Classic Baker/Davison milled sonic screwdriver keychain would totally ROCK. So I was wondering if the original creator was still around, or maybe someone else here had already done such a thing? I was thinking classic screwdriver, as it would be easier to mill than any of the modern flavours - the emitter would either be epoxied or soldered in place.

What do you think?

I believe it was Rodann, around 2003 perhaps? He first made a run of ROTJ sabers and later on there was supposed to be a Graflex run as well.

IIRC, something bad happened to him or his dad, so the Graflex run never got off the ground. I believe most of us that paid in full for the set, decided to donate the Graflex deposit to give him a much needed hand at the moment.

I wonder how he's been. I haven't seen him in a long time.

Man, that sucks about Rodann, hope things are better for him now... I remember I didn't sign up to the graflex replica, was pretty short of cash at the time, so I just bought the rotj.
So, who's up for this sonic screwdriver project? Anyone here good with a milling machine?
Could anyone point someone that might want to take this on at this thread?
Thx folks!

Bump'd, so that the dream doesn't die! :)

Gulliver! Dude! It's been ages! I'm glad you're still around! I, too, wish I had gone in on one of your Blake's 7 bracelet runs.

A sonic screwdriver keychain ornament would be awesome!

I still talk with Roguescout a few times a month. I wonder if he'd be up for it? I'll call and ask him.

Hey, Waz!
Good to hear from you! I think I will do a b7 run again at some point... good luck with contacting RS... I still have his aluminium spring action sonic - one of my favourite pieces!
I love it when a plan comes together!

I left him a voice mail (he tends to be out sky diving or cross country running or just playing with his son on weekends) so we'll hear back from him during the week. I also let him know that you're still very happy with his work; I'm sure that will make him a happy human.

G-foyle,
Good to see your still around. I still log in every now and then. As Ron already announced I spend most of my time these days skydiving, adventure racing or most importantly.. spending time with my son. Anyhow, if the interest is there I may be persuaded to make a few old school sonic keychains. Also, have you ever seen the full electronic upgrade (sound package) I did for those sonics I sold back in the day?

Regards,
Rob

Well, well, well...look who remembered his password!

Good to see you around, Rob and really good to see you talking about logging some possible shop time.

As one of the lucky and rare few owners of a RS Sonic with sound I gotta say - it's the bomb. Love mine. It's one of the few prop replicas I still have out on display.

Yeah, Jim aka Rodann made those...I haven't talked to him in awhile, but last I heard he had hung up his costuming and proppin' ways...I still have his number somewhere, I'll try and look him up to see what he's up to.

Woah,
with Mic, Waz and Rogue in the thread, we are in danger of it becoming an old boys roll call! ;)
Good to see you checking in RS! I heard alot about the upgrade, but never actually heard the sounds themselves... I remember you had fun designing the boards to fit in the bodies?

I'm sure we can drum up enough interest for this project, right guys? I myself would probably take two or 3... how many do we need to give the project a green light? do we need a ball park figure for costs?

Speaking of "old boys club;" the sound module was designed by another old man of the board: Hyperdyne Labs. Here's a link to the prototype of the sound system he made for my Parks built Sonic:

http://www.hyperdynelabs.com/misc/sonic.avi

After this he made a few refinements and shipped two off to Rob, one for his own sonic and one for mine. That was years ago but it still started the "must have accurate sound" revolution around here I think. :)

:eek Awesome!

Ron/Rob - do you think we need to kick off a seperate 'interest' thread? The title of this thread doesn't really shout the subject matter, making it easily missed by Who fans that might be interested :)
