Didn't really know where to post this but the costuming forum seemed the most appropriate.

The ridiculous senator Kevin DeLeon is at it again. He has introduced senate bill 199 that would require all BB and airsoft guns to be painted bright colors. The part that pertains to cosplayers is that it makes altering the colors of said guns a misdemeanor.

This makes perfect sense: "I want to rob a convenience store. Oh, wait, I can't! To do so, I would have to paint my air soft gun to make it look more realistic and that's illegal!"

Perfect sense!

Sorry guys. My bad. Ya know, I have been trying to decipher the legalese of the bill and I can't seem to find the part where it states it is a misdemeanor to paint your orange airsoft gun black.

From what I can tell though it bans any BB, Airsoft, or pellet gun that is not painted bright colors by the manufacturer. I can't find anything with regard to painting the gun after you purchase it.

I am by no means an attorney. Please feel free to research it yourselves.
