C-3PO cast. Can anyone identify origin?

Hi all,

I bought a couple of these a while ago from ebay for some projects but I've not had any luck from the seller finding out where the moulds came from (possible recaster?).

I don't think it's a zorg or similar as it's a bit small. Not sure if it may be from a Don post but I'd hear the bottom section of the back has a weird cut-away on the DP.

I suspect it's got some sort of lineage to the original as it has very similar asymmetry at the chin/neck, and also because it just looks right for 3POs distinctive face/expression!

Don Post re-work? Some other cast of a cast of a cast? A really good recent sculpt that's too small to wear unless you're tiny?

Ignore the eyes, antenna and bolts, all 3D printed (I designed the eyes as the ones it came with were wrong).
Thanks in advance for any leads!

A machinist is someone who builds things for other people. For example if you want the pieces for Han Solos Blastech DL-44 a machinist makes them in this case Dark Energy Creations did.

Sorry, still not clear what your reply “machinist?” means. Are you asking me if I’m a machinist? If I need a machinist? Or the head was made by a machinist? Usually machining refers to manufacturing metal components like turned brass or steel. This is a thread trying to identity the origin of a fibreglass droid cast.

because it needs to be very precise to not screw up the preciseness of the chin. Obviously whoever did that screwed up.

I was saying that probably it was from a machinist that added it onto the C3-PO head.

Added what on to the head? Nothings been added to the head. It’s a fibreglass cast. This thread is to establish the heritage of the cast. Nothing to do with machinists.

So can anyone help with the actual question? I’d love to find out if this is a recast from an original or someone else’s work.
