(i have edit the topic, and just wanna add this few lines here.
Because LAWS are back in business, and have made it all up again.
Contact all on the he´s waiting list for refunds, plus not take any payments in, before a suit is ready to be shipped out.
So i just wanna say sorry for this drama, i just did not know where to go whit all this at the time.
Best regards from here.
Rolf)

Hi there.
I wanna give you all a warning, against a armor maker.
The makers name is Laws from Imperialarmor.net

First of all:
I don´t want this topic to be a hateful, so keep it civil and constructive.
Taken as a beware of this buyer, and warn my fellow 501st members.
So they don´t go through the same nightmare, i have been through the last 18 month.

Where to start:
I contact Dan Laws late 07, because he want to make a new TK/TD suit.
Late 08 he was ready to take payment, and he promise me the suits would be ready in the start of 09.
(i payed for 2 TK, 2 TD suits, in good fait and trust)
But i was played, the promise to get my suits in the start of 09.
Became a promise for mid 09, then before winter 09, then before 2010.
I kept waiting, but nothing came...
And i got no updates, even i email for it every week through 09.
RJ he girl friend, and now a new member on FISD as the alias Pure TK.
Start replying he´s mails, in the start of 2010.
We then made a finial deal, that i should have my 4 suits before march 2010.
That would be my last dead line to Dan, for how long i could wait (now i have been waiting 18 month).
And that promise me, no problem, the suits will be done way before march.
But still nothing, so i ask for a final refund (i have been asking for a 50% refund for the last 6 month, but never got one).
Well bottom line, i got my refund yesterday, and my nightmare is over.

He´s background:
Dan Laws called me a *******, and a whiner because i want my suits before he refund me.
He also call me a investor of he´s project, so i should just keep my mouth shot.
I never!!! send payment for 4 suits to him, for being he´s investor.
I send payment to him, for getting in armor, and a few month after payment as promised.
Looks to me, he´s a lot like he´s old partner Matt/TE.
In the way he run he´s business, and how he treat people there are supporting he´s business.

Proof:
I have kept all the mails/payments since 08, if any body need some proof of all this.
RJ just register FISD, and can be aggressive.
So there might come some negative reply from her, as she try to back him up for there business.

Rep:
I have only heard bad things about him, and many of my friends have been through the same nightmare as me.
In a period i was so down over it, i even was thinking to leave this hobby for a long time.

List:
Here a small list, of my bro´s Dan Laws also played tricks on:
A MEPD bro wait 11 month for he´s snowtrooper.
A MEPD bro have order a Tie Pilot, was promise to be shipped out after 6 weeks. But now it have been 8 month he still don´t have nothing.
A MEPD bro order a sandtrooper the same time i did, but as mine, never came. So he ask for a refund.
Another MEPD bro order a sandtrooper the same time i did, but as mine, never came. So he ask for a refund.
A garrison buddy got he´s AT-AT after 10 month.
Some garrison buddys order Snowtrooper together, got them after a small year. And there was parts missing, plus yellow a like plastic parts on some of parts.

Claims:
Here in the end, he also claims to produce the best/most accurate armor in the world.
But i have seen the helmet, chest, legs, shins, arms.
And they are not as accurate, as the accurate TrooperMaster armor.

Its people like Dan Laws there kill the fun in this hobby, if you ask me.
I really don´t hope people will support he´s business, but support the good respected armor makers out there.

Cheers

What Carsten said! Contact the staff here on this one. PM a mod.

Being a "Grammar Nazi" is fun and acceptable, but only if the person you are trying to correct is a native English speaker.

I don't know Laws, but I know not to buy vapor-ware. I've only done it once, from a trusted, long time crafter-seller here. It's a lesson users do learn here the hard way. If the person doesn't have it on hand, or if the person hasn't told you to expect delays as your money will be used for purchase of manufacturing goods, then you have a legitimate beef.

Trooper armor is a touchy business, man. Don't let one bad deal ruin the hobby you enjoy. As always, caveat emptor.

Re: Warning against a armor maker

I agree with Qui-Gonzalez I have had 2 of 2 'vapor-ware' costumes go sour. I'm at the point where it's gotta be in hand before I fork over the money. Custom work is the exception, even then I've been burnt more than once. I've dealt with DL before, this was 4 or 5 years ago. I didn't have any problems, but his was before he started having 1 year waiting lists. Sorry to hear about your problems td 252, the same thing kind of thing has changed the way I built costumes and acquire parts

Re: Warning against a armor maker

it is called the armorers curse.

you start taking orders thinking you can get to this guy and that guy too, before you know it you are way behind. then you are left with two options. stop taking orders and finish what you have or take more orders becuase you already spent the money that is needed to complete the previous orders.

it sucks when this happens.

Re: Warning against a armor maker

I agree with Bungle.

Dan is/was depending on your view one of the BEST out there for his goods which lead to way too many orders. It deffinatly sucks it got to this point but it was almost inevitable.

Copy that, i just wanna warn people if i can.
So the don´t have to go through the same nightmare i have been in whit Dan here.

He Tie, and Snowtrooper looks nice, but he stormtrooper are really way off from accurate.
I have hold the helmet, and seen the chest, shins, arms and there are mistakes all over them.
Belief me i know, after over 10 years in this hobby...
And have assembled many suits: GF, AP, TE, TE2, TM V1, TM v2 etc...

Troop on:thumbsup

Re: Warning against a armor maker

That is heartbreaking to hear. I was never very keen on some of the individuals of dubious character that Dan chose to associate with, but from everything I ever heard he was a standup guy producing quality product. :(

Thats VERY odd I believe and I know GINO will pop up to say yes or no, but he had something to do with the TE suits originally so that they would have errors is actually shocking.

Re: Warning against a armor maker

Hey Rolf, that´s sooo sad to hear!
I know you were so proud to be one of the lucky guys to get one of DL´s upcoming suits!
I had some email contact with DL in the past years and he was always a nice guy to talk to. I know you had the same experiences with Dan.

That makes it even more sad to hear your story...
Another nice guy bites the dust... :thumbsdown

Re: Warning against a armor maker

You found that they would have erros to be shocking? Really?
My opinion of Dan has always been this.
I could never understand why he aligned himself with the nefarious people he did.
I also felt that he did quality work, but not very accurate work. Which for most if just fine.
As for being involved with Matt, yes he helped Matt recast armor which is what ended up going to TE2 (Tony). But he had nothing to do with the original molds that I have which is a lie/myth that has been perpetuated by those with either a selling agenda, or a personal agenda to discredit my molds.

Thanks for clearing it up GINO, I knew he had something to do with Matt just not the whats or hows.

Re: Warning against a armor maker

Rolf,
I am sorry you have had such a rough time. I have read all of the posts on FISD and am very happy you have finally been refunded. Thank you for letting us know about this unfortunate situation. Keep on trooping!

Thanks bro.
Yeah Dan have been nice, but i guess many are, as long as there are money to get.
As soon as i ask for this final refund, he turn quick, and i saw he´s true self:thumbsdown

I agree whit Gino here, he make some quality suits.
But not very accurate.
And have the worst excuses i have ever been involved in, to brake every promised dead line over and over:wacko

I got some helmets from him back then, and there was flaws all over.
Thin, drips etc all over.
I can post some pics if you like.

Well i´m just happy, i got my refund in the end.
And just like to post it here, so others know how he run he´s business, and treat he´s customers.

Cheers.

Re: Warning against a armor maker

Well, nothing self-serving in that little rant.:thumbsup
Fiction notwithstanding...

Dan's overlogged and has worked himself into a corner, and needs to catch up, fast. I hope he can.

Copy that 100%.
Some of he´s stuff are ok, but he´s rep getting he´s things out are not.
The way he run he´s business will close he´s business soon, if he don´t make a new way of running he´s business.
And to honest... i don´t think he got the skill to do it.
Cheers

Re: Warning against a armor maker

There are so many lies and spin from trooper makers out there.

The only trustworthy and reliable sellers are TM, TE2 and AP for accurate armour. Quality products and great communication.

Dan and TE have stated that Dan made the trooper molds that TE sold to GINO. So we are not to believe TE that Dan did the molds but we should believe TE that he did nothing to the molds before selling to GINO although he is nefarious and not to be trusted...:wacko

As mentioned above in the thread, quite accurately, it's the armorer's curse. From your communications, he's both overlogged and burning out. Time to finish standing orders and take a break.
