Bug!!!

Well, here's a quick build I'm almost done with. It's a 1/12 scale kit based on the Phil Tippet Maquette Bug for the original Starship Troopers movie. This kit comes courtesy of Steve Neisen. He did the master sculpting himself, and I gotta say, not only is the size of this thing impressive, but the details are fantastic. The legs all have reinforced rods in them (and I'm glad they did for this pose).

I've still got to put on the 'eyes' (I cut off the ones on the kit, want to put on my own shiny orbs) and the little 'antennas' out the rear sides, but I may not get to them for a bit and thought I'd share this. I still need to shoot a clear coat on this and then some dullcoat, and I plan to do a 'sandy' base for it as well down the road.

Questions on the Kit can be sent to: justabug@bresnan.net

And a couple more pics.

Forgot to mention, the castings were near perfect. I had no airbubbles and the seam lines were very easy to clean off. Great job Steve.

Guys,
Just for info It's 1/12 scale and I sculpted this about a year and half ago (my first) it's based upon the Phil Tippet maquette… and molded it while molding the catch up projects.

Sean is a huge fan of SST so I got him a kit. My wife and son said they would do any bug kits if the interest was there as I’m concentrating on fulfilling orders for studio scale ships.

I am NOT casting these.. if kits are done they will be done by my son . The email addy goes to my wife’s account and its something she want to handle, not me. The kit is huge and I like it a lot.. if you’re a SST fan don’t miss this one! Give Kristi an email shout out and she can let you know the details! Tell her Steve sent ya!

Looks good Sean!

I have no idea why but I love
that UGLY BUG ! :lol

Just a pity they won't throw the money to make
a GOOD sequel with 1,000's more of those ugly
gritters again !

GOOD WORK guy ! :cool

It's nice to see a build up from this project. :cool I remember seeing Steve's sculpt about a year ago when I was visiting him in Colorado, and was impressed.

Kristi and Steve Jr. will do a great job if they decide to make a kit of this!!!:love

Thanks Dan, was fun to have you out for the visit! I’m a huge fan of Starship Troopers (the 1st movie) I’ve always hated the goolob bug and toy version not accurate at all. So I sculpted this bad bug from reference of the Tippett maquette used for digital input.

The kit is 1/12 that means a MI trooper stands 6” tall to this beasty! I commissioned Dan G to sculpt three movie accurate troopers.. Anyone want to do a 1/12 Marauder power suit? Would love to have a rusted out one with a skeleton inside, buried in the sands of Klandathu for a display base with my bug!

Was a fun project to make.. Sean’s doing a great job on the build and paint. I’ve had a few Starship Trooper studio scale ships “drop” into my possession recently. I will be fixing those up next year for sure!

So Saddle up people do you wan to live forever!?!
