As EvilRocketeer mentioned it's a storm effect, which gets activated when someone passes the frontal sensor.

Oh, Is that what it was. Looked kind of metallic and varied in shape.
It is also a clear, star lit sky so I thought otherwise. So..........
I thought it was a UFO or something. A Storm it is!

Still a very cool looking display.
