Love how they paid tribute to the beginning theme song and filmed all on the same locations: Pipeline on North Shore, Rainbow Towers, Punchbowl, Honolulu International Airport, La Ronde restaurant and even down to the final police car light (more modern of course!)

I am really looking forward to this show. I watched the original for the entire run 68-80. I remember looking forward to Hawaii 5-0 night. I also had the fortune to meet Jack Lord and get his autograph (no idea where it is now) but he was legend back home!!!

This will make me homesick!!

(Looks like Daniel Dae-Kim will be living in Hawaii for awhile now!):thumbsup

........:love:love:love:love:loveAnd here is hoping to see Grace Park in bikinis more often....at least once a week maybe three times a month! :confused:love:love:love:love

It'll be interesting to see how it fares. The first shot of the opening credits reminded of the opening of NCIS:LA (same kinda Map-zoom). I'll watch this when it appears, see how it grabs me.

I loved this show as a kid....nice to see how they have done a good job honouring the original credits. Hope we get a chance to see this in the UK.....love to see more of Grace Park, thats for sure! :)

I loved that show so much when I was a boy. But Grace Park is playing Kono!

Next thing you'll tell me Starbuck's a girl now, too.

I love the originals theme song...can't say I'm a fan of this version. Looks interesting though. Will have to check it out.

I loved the original series, In fact I grew up watching all the 70's cop shows that were imported from the States.
I'm looking forward to this

and an excuse to show my 5-0 badge

I'm meh about it (and that's the most positive I'll get). I wonder if they will still go Ewa to Makai. HAH!

I can see Daniel Dae Kim trying to pull off a proper "Moke" accent, and not succeeding.

"Uh, yeah, we stay trying for go to da kine." Something tells me it won't work.

"Moke" :lol I haven't heard that word since the 80's!!! (but you are absolutely right)

For some reason I am not excited about this, even though I grew up in Hawaii.

I always get disappointed when they don't use local (Hawaii) actors in leading roles. They always seem relegated to supporting characters, such as criminals and such. We have such a great pool of talent in the islands, and they are always overlooked. I would have loved to see Kyle McLaughlin in the role of Steve McGarrett.

For the new movie "Princess Ka'iulani, they used a Peruvian actress in the lead :unsure

The big question is (only those who grew up in Hawaii will understand) will Joe Moore have a guest appearance?

Heres to hoping they will use the Anderson estate sometimes like the original did so they can clean it up a little

This show is a blast from the past of my youth...

I was a bit too young to get involved with it myself but I clearly remember my granddad LOVED this show, enough that he bought a Mercury Marquis like the one driven by Jack Lord in the show, albeit a gold color where Jack's was black...

Later on in my teens (mid '80s), my brother was in the army stationed at Schofield Barracks and I made a couple of visits to stay with him and his wife. A heck of a trip for a sixteen year old without doubt and I'd love to revisit that experience again...:thumbsup

I think it pays homage quite nicely to the original. I loved the original too, and I like the cast of this redo. I'll give it a shot.

Looks like he's going to be busy in a play with Pat Sajak!

Eh! Babooze! Now you wen make me homesick for da kine islands li dat brah!

Speaking of "moke" how about "titas"....?

Interesting tidbit from Wikipedia that I never knew!

"A one-hour pilot for a new series was made in 1996 but never aired. Produced and written by Stephen J. Cannell, it starred Gary Busey and Russell Wong as the new Five-O team. James MacArthur briefly returned as Dan Williams, now governor of Hawaii. Several cameos were made by other Five-O regulars. On October 6, 2009 FusedFilm.com [18] confirmed that CBS Television was keen on trying once again to revamp the series with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Fringe) to develop the series along with Peter M. Lenkov (CSI:NY)."

I wonder if they will end the show with the standard line, "Be here, Aloha!" :confused

And Chin Ho comes back from the dead:

"The 1997 shot at a Five-O revival and Kam Fong

Talk had centered around a remake or a feature film version of the show for years. In 1997, CBS and Stephen J. Cannell (The Rockford Files, Baretta, The Commish) collaborated on a pilot for a possible new Five-O series. The pilot would introduce some of the new cast and feature former regulars from the original series, including Fong. According to Five-O fan and author of a book on the show, Karen Rhodes, Fong was asked to reprise his role and appear in the pilot. Neither Fong nor any of the other regulars told Cannell that Chin Ho had been killed off at the end of the tenth season. This was only discovered after all of Fong's scenes had been shot and to excise him from the project would have caused delays and overruns in cost. Hoping that CBS executives would not remember the one episode out of hundreds, Cannell screened the pilot."

DH, the fact that local actors weren't even considered for the local part is the reason why I'm sort of against this show. I do theatre, and a lot of really talented actors went out, only to be shunned away.

The Kaiulani movie, I'm told, was done wonderfully. I've yet to see it, as I'm out of the country at the moment.

Capn,

About the '97 remake: Busey was such an ass on the set that the people working on the show started calling him "Gary A-Busey."

The problem with most shows filmed in Hawaii is they focus too much on the eye-candy (Baywatch: Hawaii, North Shore, uh, Hawaii), and not on the script. It becomes this hour-long commmercial for Hawaii, and it gets so cheesey when they try to get "authentic."

Oh, and about Joe Moore, I pray to ****** that he isn't involved with the show. You guys think that Hayden Christensen is terrible, Joe Moore is worse!
