Book of Eli Bible info

Hey guys, I was looking to replicate the bible from Book of Eli, but after a couple minutes of googling, I've come to realize that Eli didn't have the 'entire' bible.

See for yourself:

As you can see, there is a MASSIVE size issue here. The movie bible is only about as thick as a phone book. Beings as Eli quotes from GENESIS, I assume its only the first few chapters. The average braille book is 10x longer than a regular printed version, so that means he had to have only had a small amount of the total 5 books of the King James Bibles.

Re: Book of Eli Bible interest and info

me, id want real leather... with misaligned pages...and maybe beat up... im not sure about that.
i think if you could just do genesis and exodous in braile...that would be cool. for me anyhow. id be happy even if it was just genesis.
cant wait to see this done!

Re: Book of Eli Bible interest and info

I think I might do some non-braille and blank page versions as well. Those going the cheaper route might just want a look-alike.

...

Personally, I would think think this is a situation where it would be better to have what the movie says rather than what the movie had. Remember, he was a living repository of a COMPLETE King James Bible. I have a similar Bible, large print, hardcover, leather (I posted a pic in a previous thread) which is complete (though it's NIV) - but it lacks the lock.

You're correct, but it's physically impossible to do that unless you make the braille size 5 or so, but that's pushing it.

UPDATE:

The cover's cross has become quite a difficult task in recreating. I have been at it all day. It's a common Fleur-de-lis cross, but it has a lot of added detail.

Common Fleur-de-lis cross:

The Eli bible's cross is longer and more detailed, but there are no images on the internet of the cover than has the amount of detail needed to do a simple copy/paste. I'll have to draw it by hand until I get it right, and even then, we have no good reference pictures to compare it to.

I wish whoever bought the screen used bible would come forward with some cover shots *COUGH COUGH*

UPDATE:

Well this is what I've come up with guys. What do you think?

Army life has been consuming most of my time preparing for my deployment in May, and I'm currently at Sniper school, so aside from a few leather crafts here and there, most of my larger projects are on hold until further notice. I know what I need to do for this Bible, and now that I'm getting better at leathering I don't think it would take long to get done, just need the money and time.

Agreed. I actually spent a lot of time researching how to put this together and I feel like it would be a waste to never get it done. I'll see what I can do. I may be able to at least get the cover done sometime soon. We will see.

So, has anyone made an attempt to make a replica of the Book of Eli bible? If so, I would be interested to see how it turned out and what it took to costruct it!

I still plan on doing this project. I promise! It will probably be on a 1 by 1 basic, no mass runs. Who knows. I'll have some nice deployment money to work with in purchasing the pieces for this though. I haven't forgotten!
