Hello RPF -
Since I know a few others are working on a set of their own, I thought I would share my Blood Dragon Armor Progress.
Although I managed to debut the armor at Dragon Con, the armor was not nearly ready and fell apart after only 30 minutes. I anticipated this, so I was not particularly disappointed. It's hard to be disappointed being able to debut anything when freshly painted parts were drying in the back of my truck on the way to the airport for the flight to Atlanta!
In any case, I did manage a few snapshots before chaos ensued.
There is still a lot of work and repair that has to take place now. Previously I intended to include all of the lighting in time for the con...that didn't work out. Additionally I was working on a second more proportional, complete, and accurate helmet - unfortunately I was forced to whip together my prototype helmet so I would at least have something to show after a couple months of work, scrambling to get done in time for the con. Considering the firestorm I received for dedicating so much time to it, I had little choice but to try to field it. There are other parts and areas that were basically thrown together so I would be able to field it. Those parts are going to be completely built / rebuilt from the ground up to match the quality with the other more complete parts of the armor.
I'll follow this up with some photos of the construction process - which will show more detail of the various parts (including the "carbon fiber armor" pieces), and will then continue with new photographs detailing the repair and completion of the various pieces that are either incomplete or in disarray.
I'm very aware of the handful of discrepancies between the in-game armor and my recreation. This is ultimately a product of insufficient time and cut-corners. Of course every costume is a perpetual work in progress, so I intend to address those flaws as I go back to repair and rebuild.
